Friday....and it's gonna be a good one!

Lunch: Might have to skip it....just had a big cherry fritter...blah!
Our son is out of town tonight and hates Thai food so I'm guessing that's where me and the Mrs. will go.


Question(s) of the day: Weather is getting nice and I get to appreciate the cool things about where I live.
Here are some pics of the most notable feature of our town.....the Snake River Canyon. This is where Evil Knievel jumped in 1974.
The bridge has become very popular among b.a.s.e jumpers. Pretty cool place to live actually with Sun Valley and Boise close
and a variety of scenery.

Anybody famous or interesting in your town? Kinda bizarre but Ted McCarty of Gibson guitars fame recently died here. He evidently has a daughter
in the area and as he grew older wound up in a senior citizens home here. There was regular traffic in and out of his apartment by the local
guitar nuts, though I never made to see him. He was the idea man behind the 335 and later in life had an association with PRS.

Chris Greene lives here. He is host and owner of the Fender Forum. Some folks find his moderation style a little too strict but I like him and
we have jammed a couple times. Our kids go to the same charter school.
Gary Pucket of the Union Gap and the guy known as "Deep Throat" in the Nixon years both went to high school here.


G & L content: Anybody into Umphrey's McGee? The guy plays an S-500 really well. Kinda jam band with interesting arrangements.
Played with the band last night.... Legacy>Ibanez Wah>Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde> vol pedal>Boss DD-20>Boss DD-3>Boss CE-5> Fender Hot Rod Dlx.=tone(at least suits my ears)
Felt great to play though my fretting hand is a little shakey and weak....it will get stronger.

Thanks....unfortunately in my case where rheumatic inflamation is the culprit concentrated exercise can make it worse. I've kinda gotta take it slow.

The Snake River Canyon is a breathtakingly beautiful place. A friend of mine used to live there --- right in the canyon. He's related to the people who own Pristine Springs, which is a ranching outfit, and he ostensibly worked for them. Outrageously beautiful. I would like to see it recognized and protected, given the status of "national park" or some such --- it deserves it. I went to the Buffalo Cafe when I was there and had a delicious breakfast.

The horse is out of the barn as far a nation park status but there is a strong movement to limit how close and how tall buildings are next to the canyon
as well as other protections.
Buffalo Cafe...you bet...best breakfast or lunch in town. Their chorizo omelet is terrific as is most everything they make.

The breakfast was delicious and, as I recall, HUGE! I had a really good time in Twin Falls. At a hotel bar I met some young hipsters who seemed more hip, more indie, more ironic and more jaded than standard-fare Echo Park hipsters. I was amazed by this.

My little town has a couple famous residents. Bob Seger's retreat/studio is around the corner from us, and Kid Rock lives a mile or two north of me. When he was with Pam Anderson, Pam would run through the car wash where my youngest son worked in the summer. All the boys said she had big....lips. We see Kid Rock around town every now and then, usually with a gaggle of hangers-on.

I stop by the FDP on occasion. Chris does get a bad rap at times, but that's a well run forum and rarely has a dust up, despite the fact that there are thousands of members.

Baton Rouge is home to a bunch of famous people. Lots of bluesmen in our neck of the woods. The Raful Neal (R.I.P.) and his children, Tabby and Chris Thomas, Buddy Guy, Clifton Chenier, the band Better Than Ezra, and a ton of other musicians.

The director Steven Soderberg went to high school, and college here. I went to school with his brother and got to meet him a few times. I watched them film a good portion of Sex, Lies and Videotape.


I think the guitarist for Umprhey's Magee might post here (or at least did)

Famous people from my part of the universe? Well, Paul R. Smith is from around here, but so is our great friend Bassman Bill Carey, who really does the low end proud!

Great week. Sorry I've not participated more. My wife's a CPA and it's tax season and I need to pull more than my own considerable weight at this time of year. Also, she's kind of monopolized the computers....

Beautiful country up there in Idaho. I really should revisit the state someday. I was there as a kid, but that was 40+ years ago.

Being in L.A., the area is crawling with famous musicians, movie stars, porn queens, etc.
