MFD Alternative - Part Two

Post by KenC »

I didn't get to the original MFD Alternative post before Craig locked it down, so hopefully the OP will check this thread out!

The OP asked whether the ASAT MFD neck pickup would fit the route in a Fender Telecaster, and was advised that it would. Isn't this only true for the ASAT Classic? I can't imagine that a Tele has such a big bathtub route that a large MFD will fit without modification. The ASAT Classic pups, OTOH, should be exact matches for the Fender Tele pup footprints and depths.

Or am I missing something?

The ASAT Classic pickup is about 5mm bigger (depth) than a standard Tele style neck pickup. You'd certainly need to do some routing for the MFD from the ASAT Special to fit a Fender Telecaster.
