update.
I need your help about tuners.
I see two type of tuners on comanche - Schaller Locking ones and generic non-locking G&L's.
Can I replace them with Hipshot Grip Lock instanly? Or I need to drill some holes?
Thanks again!
Hello, guys!
I wanna ask you about pickup route in G&L USA Comanche. I find out that there is two different "layouts" for pickups.
1) http://i608.photobucket.com/albums/tt16 ... C03223.jpg
2) http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x33 ... f66350.jpg
Which one do you prefer and why?
Is there some connection between year of production and pickups layout?
Thanks and sorry for my English

Re: G&L Comanche - pickup route question
For corksniffers and vintage maniacs (if that makes sense for a Comanche) alike pursuing the vintage Fender dream, the first one would be more appreciated as you have more wood and hence better sonic qualities. The second one has a bathtube route which is more practical to swap pickups configurations (with pickguards). If you go the corksniffer path again, the sound may be a little more airy as in a semi-hollow. On many of our beloved forums, the bathtubre route has been represented as a lower quality construction designed to favour industrial flexibility.
But then, the Comanche isn't a vintage strat (so why be bothered to benchmark it against one?) and high-end builders, as Grosh, aren't afraid to use the bathtube route on some of their models.
Let your ears, your feel and your needs guide you without prejudice.

Re: G&L Comanche - pickup route question
The swimming pool route is the newer method.
I would dispute the argument that the individual routes are sonically better. Different, maybe...better? Not buying it.
I just don't think there is signficant difference, and it certainly wouldn't deter me from buying a new Comanche.

Thanks for opinions!
There is no G&L shops in my area(and G&L guitars at all), so I will buy Comanche through the sea

Not sure the wood would like the humidity, neither the hardware the salt!

Looks to me like you'll have to drill holes for that screw hole on the tab. Don't worry too much about drilling a tiny hole if it makes the guitar better.
