Abusing the G&L DF tremolo and staying in tune now

Post by MJ Slaughter »

This is kind of a follow up of a previous topic I started about problems keeping my low E string in tune. After reading suggestions and watching a couple of videos I have it to where the tremolo can be abused with dives, flutters, up pulls etc. At the end of my test one string was out of tune by 1-2 cents while the others held their tune just fine. Combination of tuning down to the note, bend the string, dip the tremolo and let it come back to neutral, tuning each string until it doesn't go out of tune after diving tremolo. This takes only a couple extra minutes if that much but for me worth the extra effort. After using the tremolo do a quick dive and let it come back to it's normal position and it should be in tune.

I recorded this sample tremolo abuse with my Legacy Special into Guitar Rig 5 just taking a preset and going from there.

How could the vibrato unit be abused, if only one string is out of tune?

Your problem is located at the nut.

All I meant was after hard use, trying to abuse it, the tremolo is staying in tune. Did you listen to the clip? For some reason when I click the link I get a message that this content can not be open in a frame.

The link didn't work for me either.

I'm with Miles - the problem is most likely at the nut. Can you post a pic or two?

Only if you open the link in another Tab or Window. It will not work inside the GbL site.

I have now added a new BBCode for embedding soundcloud files.

Here's the poster's audio:
