does anybody have a hard time seeing the strings with

with a maple finger board ??...... never had a maple finger board but my bi-focal glasses focus better at arms length , anything closer gets a little hazy , will the maple finger board "blend" with the strings making them harder to see ??

some of the colors on the guitar builder look better with maple finger board but I didn't want to order something I might have a harder time seeing the strings .... I never really thought about finger boards like this before but veiwing on the guitar builder it seems when you switch from rosewood to maple finger board the strings blend in with the finger board on maple... maybe its a non issue but would like to hear what you guy's think before I order a guitar .... I hate wearing glasses but my eyes suck

Playing with your eyes closed isn't a bad thing, I tend to learn on a different (deeper?) level when I do.
You'll make different kinds of mistakes, which allows for an opportunity to learn in a way you wouldn't otherwise.

(I'd recommend maybe those colored strings DR has been offering...but they are terrible!!)

in real life that's not the case. i think maple is actually easier to see than rosewood.

I recently bought my first maple fretboard guitar ever and find it easier to see the fret markers on a dark stage. I don't look at strings though unless I'm changing them. Are you sure you're really looking at the strings when you play and not just the fret markers?

^^^^^ you just had to mention the "t" word ??... lol, I own a small 2 bay auto repair shop , tri-focols would make me trip on my own feet let alone parts on the floor ..lol

thanks for all the replies , sounds like maple would be a good choice , just when I narrowed it down to color choice's with rosewood , guess I will wear out the on-line bulder some more ... way too many choices and I want em all

yes I look at the strings and fret marks , justed started taking lesson for playing lead , previous 40 years have all been chords played on the first five frets , this 10 to 18 fret thing is a whole new world to me and it will take a little while to get it down with eyes closed , I do try to practice a couple hours a night if not more
