Choosing an SC-2...

Post by blargfromouterspace »

...or "How I Wasted Hours with the Online Generator"

I'm about to put an order in for one. What's your opinion - which looks best? The red is Fullerton Red, but could be Candy Apple red too. It looks the same in the generator.

EDIT: And is the DFS upgrade worth it? I was going to go with it, but I think I'd prefer the chromed brass saddles of the standard.

Number two, but with black covers instead of white ones. I love the body shape of the SC-2, but that canted bridge pickup with the square sides has always looked bad to me. Having it blend in with the body color would look better IMO. I really wish G&L would just straighten that pickup out. The guitar would look 100x better if they did.

Hey Jamie,

Not an easy choice... I like your style! Since there is no sparkle option :eh: I like the fullerton red followed by the vintage white. If you go red, do the creme covers! The shoreline is a really close 3rd.

Good luck

My favorite finish for an SC-2 is Belair Green. Since that isn't a choice, I would go with Fullerton Red or Shoreline Gold.

+1  Shoreline gold with a rosewood board and a matching headstock would look great!

I don't think you can go wrong with Black or Shoreline Gold. If you go black, I'd go with a vintage tint neck and maple board and perhaps creme pup covers kind of a nod to the Roger Water's signature strat.

If you are looking for an independent vibe, Shoreline Gold with Creme pup covers looks killer too! +1 #4 but with creme

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm pretty keen on the shoreline gold one too, but am not 100% sure about the colour. Here's an image stolen from the Upfront Guitars website of a SLG Legacy, its fairly grey.

And is a DFS a worthwhile option???

It looks subdued until the lights hit it. It is a very warm color once the light hits it. This color was originally a Pontiac color designed for 1959-60 fin cars.

Vintage white rocks. And it keeps getting yellower as it ages. It would look doubly sweet with a maple neck IMHO.

My personal faves for an SC-2 (and I have thought about it a lot) are Belair Green or Himalayan Blue.

Shoreline Gold looked the most unique. Get that one. With creme pu.

The black doesn't look good once there are finger prints on it. Which is easy to do.

Shoreline gold is a very nice colour... photo's don't do it justice. I have a legacy body in shoreline that I'm saving for a rainy day project. Definitely gets my vote for the SC-2!

Darwin, Fullerton red looks sooooo good. So does vintage white. And don't these two make a lovely couple!

I've had the choices as my desktop for the last couple of days and keep going to the shoreline gold. Pretty sure thats what I'll get!

is that a pict of the color you ordered ??

..... mine should be here before too long , I ordered a ruby red metallic , matching head stock , black PU's and a DF .... I'm sure glad I got the DF on the SC2 after playing my new legacy a couple weeks , I have never had a guitar with a smooth vibrato like the G & L's

Yep, the DFS - the upgraded version of the DF with supposedly better saddles and string block - is that what you got too?

Latest USPS update - not only has it taken two days to get somewhere only 60 miles from the start line, but it was the wrong place. I'm really hoping it arrives by next weekend, as that's the last gig in the calendar before January

Not an auspicious beginning to the journey, Jamie.

Let's hope our fantastic Customs service (cough) does the right thing by you when it hits Aus.
