I hope this is the correct place to ask this question-- my apologies if it's not!
I'm looking for a Legacy and stumbled upon this: http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/msg/3585109897.html
I know the 3-bolt neck was only in production for a short time, but can anyone tell me anything about this simply by looking at the serial number??
The picture is kind of blurry, but I can make out _047844. I want to say the first character is a 'B', but I read that those were only used b/w 52000-55000.
Is that even the correct serial number?
Sorry for the long first post. This seems like a great community, I hope to be a G&L owner soon!

I can't read the serial number.
The price seems high. I would be more worried about getting shot in West Chicago than purchasing a Legacy. I went to High School there, so I would know.

If it is in mint condition, I still think the price is high but maybe the guy will negotiate.-- Darwin

Re: Question about Legacy - Craigslist find
+1 about the price. These can be found in clean condition in the $700-$800 range without much looking. From the photos I would put this one at the upper end of that range. It would take something special like a figured neck to get me above that.

Three bolt Legacies would be between 1992 and late 1997. Serial number format up until they went to a headstock decal in late '97 was G123456. This one looks legit.krayneeum wrote:I know the 3-bolt neck was only in production for a short time, but can anyone tell me anything about this simply by looking at the serial number??

Looks legit and nice, but overpriced. And notice that his description is nothing buy a copy-and-paste from the current G&L Website.
I might pay $800 for it on a happy day, if it truly is mint. If not truly mint, $700 tops. I would also take off some value (maybe $25 to $50) if that case is not original to the guitar.

Thanks for the help guys!! Sorry for the delayed response.
I decided to take a pass and wait around for more Legacy's to pop up.
Thankfully there are a bunch posted every month here in Chicago!
