Aftermarket Hardshell Case for Asat Classic

Post by Chavero »

Hi there!

This is the first time I ever post at this forum, so first I'd like to say HELLO and I'm glad to join the club.

I was recently searching for an aftermarket hard case at local guitar stores when I found that my Asat Classic wont fit in any regular Strat/Tele ones due to its larger headstock.

Can someone please recommend one?

Thanks !

G&L offers cases that fit the older models, but I use an SKB-66 universal case. It fits my '86 ASAT and '98 ASAT Classis like a glove. Other pluses for me were that it's US-built and guaranteed for life. I've had to deal with SKB's customer service once for my son's cello case, and they gave a full replacement with no questions.

The G&L Deluxe Tolex hardshell cases with fitted interior made by G&G Quality Case Co. are available in the G&L On-line Store.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ken,

I'm not sure, but I think the headstock on the older ones was shorter, probably the same as a Fender Telecaster. Mine doesn't fit on my Fender Telecaster's SKB Case.

Thanks Craig,

I was aware of that and it's a great hardshell case, but I'd like to know if there's an aftermarket less expensive choice first :)

I have this for my legacy ASAT Classic and it fits fine: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessor ... uitar-case

The guitar fits fine and is reasonably well protected as far as fit and all that. It's really weak in the quality department, and just a small step above a gig bag, but perfect for keeping it protected at home and around town. Tough to beat at $59, but there's no way in hell I'd check it into baggage claim, or throw it in the back of a Uhaul with a full set of stage gear and expect it to be "ok". But you get what you pay for and that's about exactly what I wanted to pay and I got my money's worth.

I would caution anyone looking for an aftermarket case to check carefully as the ASAT will not fit in most aftermarket cases. They do not fit in the Wolfpack electric case. Even though you may find a case that the guitar will physically fit into, you may find the guitar can slide upward and damage the tip of the headstock on the aluminum strip of the case shell. If you were looking for something inexpensive, a used G&L gig bag is pretty decent. High quality gig bags are quite expensive and you may do as well with a G&L hard case. That is what I would recommend. -- Darwin

Louis, I wonder if Wolfpak has changed the dimensions a bit. This is a recent Wolfpak (Shipped in December) and a 2011 Asat Classic. It does fit my Gadow Custom, Prs, Taylor SB-2, Parker, and all the fenders. -- Darwin

Do you guys know if a Jaguar/Jazzmaster Case will fit?
As far as I know, those are a bit larger that the Strat's.

If the Jazzmaster case is longer, it may fit. The problem is how well will the body fit in the case. Will it move around when transporting? The G&L case fits like a glove and the guitar is secure within the case.-- Darwin
