How do MFD Pickups do with fuzz/distortion? I have a Big Muff Pi and I'm curious how they'll work with these lovely pickups.
Couldn't find any sound samples in the audio/video section, so this is where my curiosity brought me.
Cheers!

I use a vintage SC-2 with a bunch of different fuzzes. I think sounds great. When hit hard, MDFs have kind of a jangly attack that brings out all those rude fuzz noises. It's not too compressed and cuts well. A Big Muff is a solid choice, though I tend to like gnarlier sounds.

Re: MFD Pickups with Fuzz/Distortion
I don't use distortion very often. I usually play clean, but I've experimented a little bit with overdrives. The one distortion I currently have is a ProCo Rat. To my ears, it sounds very nice on a lot of different settings with my ASATs. For overdrive, I've gotten good results pushing my Blues Junior with an ASAT through a G&L Double Barrel boost pedal. I recently found an Eden Analog "Austin" pedal, which sounds pretty sweet to me.

I've been using a Mastotron with my ASAT, no complaints and I do so love that fuzzy tone.
