Howdy gang,
Currently suffering from a nose and throat infection and working from home. So in my break, lets throw in an LR. And lets keep it simple: just some porn. My latest acquisition, and 35th ASAT, is a top-bound ASAT Classic Signature built in October 1991 as a field prototype for the Commemorative series. In talking with GGJaguar, I learned that he currently knows of 5 top-bound ACS in all so the model is pretty rare. But the main thing is that it that I could add the 5th picture shown below. And why 7 every time? Is this some biblical thing? No, I just happen to have 7 guitar stands.

Mmmm-porn. Maybe bottoms-up next time. [again, insert joke here] Here is some of my "old" S-500 porn-o-pics:
Thanks to "Thumbs" for the pickguard and rear plate. I guess they were produced when he did the Centennial ASAT guards, so that's something... I've since changed the string tree to a bone white Tusq and it looks great!
Cheers,
Will

Great looking ASAT collection. You probably have the best out there! I saw the Mahogany Blues Boy Special Build like I used to have. How do you like it? What kind of pickguard is on the Cherry Burst triple bound ASAT in picture 2? I have been moving snow today as we had 15 inches yesterday so I just had a minute to check things out. Hope you feel better quickly and thanks for jumping in today. Also nice porn from the other guys!--Darwin

I'm under the weather too, but unfortunately it didn't hit until I got to work. Since I took a commuter bus into DC this morning, I had to wait for the buses to start running the other way in the late afternoon to come home.
Jos, which model is the second from the right in the top picture (with the matching sunburst headstock)?
Here are some random contributions, with no rhyme or reason:
1984 El Toro in Clear Blue over swamp ash.
Serious bling: a '98 ASAT Bass in Gold Flake (probably a NAMM show instrument), beside a '95 John Jorgenson Signature ASAT in Silver Flake.
The lowest registered G&L serial number, on an '80 F-100 in Natural Gloss over swamp ash.
One of the very first G&Ls: a pre-production L-1000 from June/July '80, in Sunburst over mahogany.
One of my best players: an '86 Lynx in Bahama Blue over maple.
A fretless '00 L-2000 in Honey over swamp ash, with an ebony board.
A bad picture of a great guitar: An '86 ASAT, with Kahler, in maple/ebony. This is my best player.
An '82 SC-2 in Red over maple. This guitar sat in a case for almost thirty years. The white at the lower strap button is the original hang tag string.
An '82 SC-1, in Blue over maple. This is just "Blue" in the catalogs, as "Viking Blue" came later. IMO this circuit is more versatile than the SC-2's.
Another shot of the SC-1 with a better rendering of the finish, which has yellowed to almost a surf green.

The pickguard is gold coated. So you see the reflection of the carpet in it, which gives it some weird kind of 'texture'. But again, it is just gold coated and very reflective.

Ken, that would be a '04 ASAT Super, a Special Build model from the Custom Creations Department.KenC wrote:Jos, which model is the second from the right in the top picture (with the matching sunburst headstock)?

Wow! I'm not a person prone to jealousy, but I think I'm feeling more than a little that way right about now. Fantastic instruments, collections and photos, guys. Again, Wow! - ed

I'll admit I've coveted your yellow Legacy im ny mind more than once .
(G&L daydreaming often helps me get through my day) .
I've been pining for a light colored Legacy (but prolly not pine )...like Himalayan blue, Bright yellow like yours (what's it called?),etc.
It must be the gray season and I'm needing sunshine and blue skies.
(I'd like to hang out with Ken and his G&L's too, nice pics Ken !)

Ken: I appreciate the invite. Did I mention that I don't play particularly well???
Elwood: I'd be happy to ship the yellow Legacy to you to check out - though we should probably wait until after the crazy holiday shipping season. There's a LOT more to that particular guitar than the stunning color. Just a great freakin' instrument in every respect. I'm pretty much blown away every time I plug her in. Should probably change the strings before sending her out, though. Would a 10-46 set of D'addrio's work for you? - ed

I'd suggest a short term swap , it'd be cool seeing pics of one I have against a winter lake setting.
I'm playing on 10's now ...though I bet I'd send it back to you with Thomastik Insfelds 10's just to show my appreciation and so you could give them a shot. The brass coating on the plain strings would look great with the sunny demeanor of the guitar .
cheers,
elwood
