Help identifying the neck and build date on this Legacy

Post by Ballistic »

I picked up this Legacy a few months back and am in love with the neck profile. It's the fattest G&L neck I've ever played, it's comparable to the wide/fat neck on my PRS SC. Based on my crummy calipers it's 1 5/8 width at the nut but the depth is .93 at the first fret. There are no profile codes on the neck heel, it just says Legacy RW. Any help is appreciated.

Can anyone make out that date code?

Hi,

I saw the order number and used that to have a look. Here are the details as I see them:

Legacy Blonde, RW-FB-#1 NCK

That "FB" could refer to "fingerboard" but I think it actually has "fixed bridge" meaning a Saddle Lock bridge. I don't see anything else specified, so I'd expect it to have a 3-ply white pickguard, satin neck finish, medium jumbo frets and standard tuners. It clearly has a Swamp Ash body as it should with the Blonde finish.

The guitar was ordered by National Speaker Company in Denver, Colorado. It was shipped on 4/25/06.

Now, getting to your question about the neck, I'd say there's a good chance it's chunkier than you'd find on today's #1 neck profile. If memory serves me, around that time we did have them chunkier. These days we have more back profiles available within the #1 family, defined as 1 5/8" with 12" radius.

Hope this helps clear it up.

Regards,

Dave McLaren
