Legacy pickup screw ques.

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Legacy pickup screw ques.

Post by jph118 »

Hello all, couldn't find the answer to this anywhere, and before i trek to the hardware store, thought i'd ask here... are the pickup mounting screws on an '02 USA Legacy the same as a Fender Am. Strat? (6-32 x 3/4")

Thanks in advance!

I've got some Legacy pickups mounted in my Fender USA strat using the Fender screws and springs, so I guess the answer is yes, the Fender pickup screws will work.

Craig (hopefully you'll read this thread):

Would it be possible for us to have a thread on the Knowledgebase Tech Tips section about miscellaneous hardware for old & new G&Ls? I mentioned the idea to Dave when we were discussing customer service issues (on the Ascari thread). This could:

1) Give a good alternative to contacting the G&L online store for bits and pieces of hardware, when the same parts are probably available locally for most of us.

2) Create one clearing-house for information on replacement screws and the like., which many of us will need at some point.

3) Hopefully save at least a few G&Ls for stripped screw holes, pickguards/control plates that no longer fit properly, mangled pickups, etc.

If we had a standard format for identifying screws and bolts for example, such as diameter, thread pitch, length and head type, it should be reasonably easy to have it populated with the parts used in the factory on new instruments. Board members could chime in on any issues regarding older parts when questions arise.

Just a thought...

If I could find some Leo era bridge posts I would have one more guitar to play,

It seems the world is short a pair and I ended up holding the potato

Elwood,
Post a picture of what you need. There is a chance I have it. I recently ran across several old parts from my CLF/G&L days.
