Guitar Cases

Post by darwinohm »

There have been discussions on guitar cases several times on the forum. The new L-2500 bass that I purchased last fall did not come with a G&L case (lost by the dealer) and instead came with an SKB hard thermoplastic case. I never liked it due to the latches and the bass moved around in it too much. I have been watching the suggestions that many of you have made, and I did an Ed (what the heck). I ordered a Wolfpak Polyfoam Bass Case on Monday and spent a whopping $67 with discount and free shipping. I received it today and my first thought was that it would not be wide enough. Deceiving, it fits like a glove and what a buy. They are great cases and the question that remains is how long will it last. Everything about it seem durable. This old dude is a happy camper and it is awesome with the precious G&L in it.--Darwin :luv:

How can a dealer "lose" a case? Anyway, glad to hear that you were able to secure a suitable case. :)

Louis, your recommendation was a consideration for this purchase and I am glad that you have used yours considerably with no issues.

Lefty, dealers do lose cases. They are lost by selling the case to someone who needs one, or by supplying it with the wrong guitar, or shipped out on an internet sale. In my purchase, it was a negotiating tool. I prefer the Wolfpak to a fitted case. Some of my fitted cases do not accept the guitar easily and need to be forced. Most of my G&Ls never leave the house but the L-2500 is my main squeeze and a fine one at that! -- Darwin

Do you recommend them over the Reunion? How would you compare them?

i use the reunion mainly for tilted headstock guitars, the wolfpak doesn't handle those. the wolfpak is smaller and harder, easier to stack, both have padded backpack straps that can be hidden. the reunion is a great case, but the wolfpak wins on price. about half. if you need one case that handles most guitars, including gibsons and prs, the reunion is the way to go.

Just took delivery of a Mono M80 gig bag today for one of my SC-2s, which doesn't have an OHSC. Talk about quality construction - this thing is bombproof and extremely well thought out. I highly recommend.

I ordered another Wolfpak bass case and two Wolfpak electric guitar cases today to use for gigging. They are an incredible value at $68. Glad you guys are finding some good products.-- Darwin
