Case for Legacy
I have an 08' Legacy that I picked up recently and came w/ a cheap HSC - Musician's Gear or something along those lines.
I'd like to get a better case, so I've been looking on the net and even went to GC to check out the Gator XL case and see if any of the G&G cases would work. No Gator XL's in stock, all the G&G strat cases are too short.....
Anyone have any suggestions for a nice / deluxe case for my Legacy?
I've sent inquiries to G&L for an OEM replacment, but they haven't replied w/ any info to date.
Also, are the G&L cases worth buying? Or should I look for a deluxe G&G, Gator, or SKB
Thanks !
Dan

You can get OEM case by ordering one from the G&L Online Store. The tolex case shown is made by G&G. Thermoplastic cases, which are made by SKB I think, regularly show up on eBay too.danno58 wrote:I have an 08' Legacy that I picked up recently and came w/ a cheap HSC - Musician's Gear or something along those lines.

As far as eBay is concerned, I hope you've seen this auction for a G&L thermoplastic case.danno58 wrote:Jos,

Re: Case for Legacy
While I can't speak for the Legacy version, the G&L logo'd G&G case I received with my recent ASAT fits like the proverbial 'finger in a bum', and if you get a G&G case I'd definitely go for the G&L one. Personally I'd spend my money on a better quality thermoplastic case - the G&L ones are fine, but there are better ones out there for not a lot more money.danno58 wrote:Also, are the G&L cases worth buying? Thanks Guys....
I'll keep a watch on that ebay case...Thanks !
I was poking around the forum and found a link to this cool gig bag.
http://www.reunionblues.com/RBG1BK.asp
Not cheap - but quite a good looking product. I'll have to check and see if it will fit for the Legacy.
I still need to try a Gator XL case. They can be had new for ~$95.00

Re: Case for Legacy
For a conventional hard case the new custom "made for G&L" cases by G&G cannot be beat.
I ran across this recently:
http://www.reunionblues.com/fender/
Apparently some of the Fender Custom Shop models are coming with the Reunion Blues.
Lucifer will probably chime in here as he owns one of these bags.
If I didn't already have the G&G case that came with my ASAT plus a G&L gig bag I would definitely be looking at the Reunion Blues bag/case......especially if I were planning on traveling with my guitar.I was poking around the forum and found a link to this cool gig bag.

Re: Case for Legacy
Thanks again guys. I sent a note to Reunion Blues to see if the RBG1 case will fit the Legacy.
I think the guitar measures 40" and the case internal dimension is 40". Just want to be sure....
P.S. I have emailed and called G&L customer service about cases and to date no one has replied.....
Not too happy about that. A great product needs to have great customer service as well.
Just sayin'

Re: Case for Legacy
Hi Dan,
Can you tell me the address you emailed? I'd like to find out what's up with that.
Our cases are made for us by G&G in Los Angeles. They're not off the rack, but you can git 'er done with a G&G Strat case if you don't mind squishing it in. I think the best bet is to get a G&L/G&G from the G&L online store.
Really sorry about the lack of response, Dan.
Dave

Re: Case for Legacy
dave, that has been the story period. total lack of response when people email, call, order. if it wasn't for craig, there would be no customer service at all. i went through that last year after i dropped a guitar off for repairs. couldn't get responses at all. i would eventually call bbe, they'd transfer me to g&l sales, who i would complain to that i can't get a response from service, and finally get an answer or call back after 3 weeks of hounding them. took a total of 5 months, not including shipping because i dropped it off and picked it up in person, all because of lack of communication. a great product, but truly one of the worse customer relations anywhere.Darth Invader wrote:Hi Dan,

No problem....Thanks for the concern...
I used the 'Contact' email link from the G&L On-Line Store : todd@bbesound.com
When I called, I bounced around until I landed on a G&L guitar sales line, then left my voice mail w/ my contact information.
I tried fitting my Legacy into a few strat cases at the local GC and they didn't fit, including the SKB, and the G&G. I don't want to squish it into any case. I have a cheapo Musician's Gear case that came w/ the guitar from the previous owner, it's ok, but the fit is not too good and I have stuffed some foam in there to firm it up.
I like the idea of getting the G&G for G&L from the online store that's probably what I'll do.
I absolutely love the Legacy, best S type guitar I've played to date.
Regards,
Dan
