NGD - The Resolution Breaker!!!

Post by gitman001 »

Hey All,

I know i haven't been around much lately… But i thought i would take a moment to share my new (used 2008) ASAT. This one had been sitting around kijiji (Canadian version of Craigslist) for a while and well the rest is history! It was such a good deal that my wife was okay with me breaking my new years resolution of only bringing one new guitar into the house per year for it. :happy0065:

Now i would also like some of your help deciding what the final look of it should be….. It had a perloid pick guard that i immediately took off and i really liked the no guard look.

So 1 of 3 things will happen
1) keep it with the no guard special deluxe vibe

2) order a clear pick guard - like a jorgenson signature

3) Use the cream guard (which totally makes it look like a different guitar.)

Let me know what you guys think….. I could use some fresh sets of eyes looking at it

Nice one Scott, makes the perfect partner to the SC-2. I really like the no-guard look.

Scott, this one is spectacular. No pickguard should be the law for a sparkle finish. It is too bad that you have the pickguard holes but it is awesome without the pickguard. I wish my Gold Asat had no pickguard. -- Darwin

Scott, 'speck-tacular' looking guitar especially in the 'nude'. :happy0065: I would leave the guard of too.

Great looking ASAT Special. I like it without the pickguard!! Like Darwin says - Sparkle finish shouldn't have a pickguard! :) My Midnight Blue Metallic ASAT Special has a black pickguard - wish it didn't have one! :|

I will join the "no pick guard" chorus as well. Also, it would be great to learn how similar, or different the Special sounds compared to the SC-2.

Nice guitar!

Love this pic of these two metal flakes together, Scott! I'd say go clear, just to make use of the vacated screw holes from the old pg, give it a more finished look.

Nude is good, but in my sick mind, there may be merit in trying a black guard with creme covers. - ed

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the comments, i think i am gonna stick with the no guard look for now.... There are pick guard holes there but the metal flake finish makes it nearly impossible to see them! My wife had some red sparkle nail polish that i very carefully ran around the inside of the screw holes (you could see some white edges where the drill bit had gone through the finish) - now they are almost invisible.

And here is the pic (for Ed's sick mind) with a black guard :alright:

Thanks Scott. I kind of like it with the black guard and the creme pup covers, but leaving her without a guard is certainly stunning as well. Just enjoy! - ed
