Asat Classic Block ferrule dimensions
Hi guys,
I'm considering swapping out the current plastic block ferrule for a metal one (aluminium, steel or brass).
I've already checked those threads :
http://guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=3523
http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewt ... f=36&t=991
but I can't find the exact dimensions ( I would be glad if I can avoid to remove it only for measuring it )
Taipantone used to make them with a perfect fit, but he seems out of business.
And apparently Delisle aren't siezd right...
So I've contacted Marc Rutters who can make one for me, actually he already have an aluminium one that is ½” wide x 2 5/8” long.
Is anyone knows if it's going to fit?
It's going to be in THAT guitar

I'd also love to know where to get one for my 2008 blues boy. I think it would be a great mod!

Re: Asat Classic Block ferrule dimensions
No answer here either (you could always measure the one in your ASAT), but I contacted DeLisle about this a while ago and he said he'd be happy to make them if he had one to copy - I didn't send one because of postage costs. If one of you guys in or nearer the US sent one then who knows what might happen....
FTR, the ones DeLisle make currently are good, but will definitely require some reshaping of the ends. About 10 minutes with a hand file is what it'll take. The string holes all line up.

I've emailed a contact at the factory to get the dimensions and whether that size above will fit.djyne wrote:Hi guys,

Re: Asat Classic Block ferrule dimensions
Never seen an explanation here as to why the shift to plastic--I assume it was a cost decision. I have a feeling this was one of the most unpopular changes made in the last few years--even more than the new serial number plates. If it was merely a cost decision I wonder why it was never offered as an upgrade where the buyer could pay the increased costs for the metal part.I wonder why G&L don't offer anything other than plastic?

You are welcome!djyne wrote: Thank you vey much Craig!!! I'll report how it turns out
I also contacted de Lisle Guitar Co. to find out if their blocks are drop in.
Here is their reply:
If you can, please post before and after sound files. I'm sure others will be interested in knowing andIt is not a direct replacement. The required route for our block is 1/2" W x 2 3/4" L x 11/16" D.
hearing the difference. Also, please post a photo of the block that Marc Rutters makes.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing your results.
Thanks.
