Hi Flipnaut,
here's one of your pics posted inline:

I don't have time to unzip the other , maybe you can review the photo posting procedures
and you might find other pertinent info from this page:

Your ASAT Classic looks awesome, and is that an L-1000 behind it?
(lets see some pics of her too  )

welcome aboard,
Elwood

Hi Flipnaut,

No, it is not a 30th Anniversary; it would have that special logo on the back of the headstock. Given that the finish seems to be non-transparent, I'll guess the wood is alder. But you can only be sure if you take the neck off.

Hope this helps,

- Jos

Hey thanks so far,

has somebody an idea what the sign/point on the head could be? I saw that also on other pictures of G&L guitars...

And the wood of the neck? --> https://www.dropbox.com/s/xfzc71502ijdv ... %20009.JPG
Fretboard is Rosewood? --> https://www.dropbox.com/lightbox/home/Public/G%26L

@Elwood: why is this guitar awesome? :D Well the bass is a normal G&L Tribute 2000 made in Indonesia. Really great sound and easy to play/slap! I play it with an italien markbass III, 500 Watt @4 Ohm together with a FMC-4x10" CL Box. FMC (Flying music circus) is a custom made Box from Hans Struck in Germany! Sound is much better than Ampeg and the whole stuff... and cheaper ;)

NECK: Hard rock maple with rosewood fingerboard
CONTROLS: 3 position selectable pickup, volume, tone
COLOR: vintage white, painted head, cream pickguard, black covers

Body wood is likely to be Alder. However, customer's can specify Swamp Ash on a
solid finished body. You would need to look at the unfinished parts of the body (such as the
neck pocket, control and pickup cavities).

Here is G&L's standard body wood specifications for the US ASAT Classic.
Alder on Standard and all solid finishes, Swamp Ash on all Premier finishes
Hope this helps.
