? For multiple G&L guitar owners
G'day ,So I am wondering if you own some different model G&L guitars, and had to give them all up except one. What model guitar do you keep?

Re: ? For multiple G&L guitar owners
I have
- 1991 Asat classic
- 2000 One off NAMM Asat with dual mini buckers, All mahogany,a bit like a junior.
- 2004 Mahogany S-500
I'ts a hard call, but if I couldn't ever get another G&L I'd keep the Asat classic.
Cheers

I have an ASAT semi-hollow, an ASAT Special and an S-500.
It's easy - I'd keep the Special.

From another angle... I would lose the S-500 and keep the rest. I'm not a fan of the small MFDs--too hi-fi for my ears.

I'll take this to mean I can keep all of my G&L basses, which makes the decision easier!LeoF The Champion wrote:What model guitar do you keep?
As long as I could rebuild a collection starting with the one keeper guitar, the keeper would be my SC-1. It's not the most versatile G&L I own (that honor would probably go to the '82 S-500 or '86 ASAT), but it is definitely the sweetest playing and sounding instrument of the bunch. If I was limited to a single guitar from here on out, my heart would tell me the SC-1 but my brain would tell me either the S-500 or the ASAT. The S-500 can cover a tremendous amount of sonic territory (even approaching traditional Tele tones), and the ASAT is just plain solid and extremely versatile.
If basses were in question, it would get extremely difficult. The '81 L2KE has the most powerful thump I've ever heard and would probably win out since it best fits my playing styles (after all, I really am a bassist first and foremost).

I have an S-500, ASAT Classic, ASAT Special, SC-3, Fullerton Signature and a Legacy. At the end of the day, I'm still most smitten with my Legacy!

Would be my ASAT DeLuxe.
F-100, F-100 E, SC-2, S-500, ASAT Special, ASAT Classic Bluesboy, Legacy and L-2000 would have to go, but over my cold dead body only.

Oh, gads. I hate these questions too. I have way too many G&Ls. The ones that I would keep?
1) ASAT S3. The neck is perfect for my hands. I like the big MFDs too.
2) S-500 hard tail. It also fits my hands, and I spec'd it with the hard tail. I like the sound.
3) ASAT bass. I have to have a bass, right?
Guitars that I would drop. Trinity. ASAT Special. ASAT Deluxe. ASATA Z3. A few others.

Re: ? For multiple G&L guitar owners
It would be really hard to keep just one of the 17 I own. I'd want to keep at least one of each of the Legacys, Comanches, S-500s, and Legacy Specials I own; so that's at least four guitars.
Each style of pickup has its own voice and personality, and doing the wide range of material that I do, it would be hard to choose. Normally, I gig with a Legacy and a back-up--usually a Legacy Special, because its thicker tone can take the place of my 2HB guitar if I need it to.
I think the last 4-hour gig I did with ONE guitar...I was using a Comanche, and never touched the ASAT Deluxe I'd brought along. It's nice when you're doing a gig and you hit that groove where everything sounds good and the guitar feels perfect.
But in the past, I've done the same with just a Legacy and at other times, the S-500. I'm sure I could do a whole gig with the Legacy Special, too.
Honestly, part of it is the amp. Using the Mesa Mark IIIs or my Mark IV and my pedalboard, I can get sweet, singing lead tones from even the "anemic" single coils of the Legacy. The graphic EQ on these amps makes dialing in a thick lead tone a breeze.
