NGD - ASAT Classic S content
Hi,
as some of you may remember, I traded my Legacy Special 5 months ago for a Hamer Artist Korina HB, and..... Five months later, I realized that the gibson scale/two humbuckers style is just not my cup of tea, so, to make a long story short, I was lucky enough to find someone who was feeling just the opposite about an ASAT classic S he owned.
We did the trade yesterday, it appeared to be a honeyburst of the custom creation 2007 run as it has the #1 neck which I love, it's semi-hollow, pearloid PG (sorry Louis ). The only things that've been changed are the three mfd, replaced by what seem to be 3 fender custom shop.
I'm blown away !! I have no word to describe it. I post a cell-phone photo so it does exist
will add some later.
A really nice, great, awesome guitar, I cannot believe my ears !!!

Hi Jamie,
is yours solid or semi-hollow ? did you keep the MFD in it, I saw you changed the pickups of your vintage white ASAT classic ?

Great looking Classic S. I have one also and they are really a fine guitar. Mine is also semi hollow and lightweight. Glad you like it.-- Darwin

Hi Darwin, I know that you have some fender custom shop in your quiver, could you give me a tip to recognize fender custom shop pickups ? I'm not sure what's in there

very nice guitar. fender custom shop pups usually have the custom shop sticker on the bottom. they don't usually tell you which one though. the only way would be to have the person who put them in give you the box they came in. i would consider custom shop pups a step back from g&l's. there are some pups that i may choose over the original ones, fender would not be one of them.

I'm not sure if they are duncan or fender, the only thing I can see is black and white clothe cables.
C'mon Louis, give me some names !

duncans are marked on the bottom, serial numbered too. i like fralins, kleins, nordstrand for tele pups, dallen, klein, wildbill for strat. dare knuckle makes some nice ones too.supereiv wrote:I'm not sure if they are duncan or fender, the only thing I can see is black and white clothe cables.

Mine is solid, I always wanted one of the semi-hollow ones. I changed the MFDs out in mine for Micro-Coils. The pickups in my white Classic are Klein Broadcaster pickups, they sound good too. But if you're blown away with the guitar as it is, I wouldn't bother changing anything about itsupereiv wrote:Hi Jamie,

You're definitely right Jamie, I'm just playing with the idea to bring the MFD back, or something else.
But, the guitar is super resonant and very "tele" sounding as it is, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

those klein broadcaster pups are very sweet, and the micro coils are the wild bill (bill lawrence) pups. those have a similar design to mfd but with neodymium magnets instead of ceramics.

By the way, I removed the neck yesterday, and the stamp says "2004".
So I guess it's one of the first run, though it doesn't have the #2 bird's eyes neck as written on the website !
