School Talent Contest
My 10 year old son was in the local grade school talent contest. He played his Tribute ASAT Deluxe Carved Top and a few songs his guitar teacher put together. I didn't get to see him but my wife says he did really good. I'm so proud of him. He has been taking lesson's since the first of the year and has been getting better every time I see him. My son seems to pick up his G&L guitar more often than he has any of the others guitars he has had. But then again the ASAT deluxe is in a whole other class than the one he's had before. He diggs the humbucker sound. I guess I'm done bragging for now.

He has had 3 guitars in the past 2 years. Two of them were Squier and the other I don't recall. Two of them were off of Craigslist. The used ones I always took them to a shop and had it set-up and they sounded OK but not great. Friends who played guitar would come over to the house would tell me staight about what I bought like the neck is twisted or crooked. I got tired of that and went for something new, something that would catch someones interest. I wish I would have done that from the start. My boy digs the sound of his new guitar and I have some piece of mind.

KIds, they drive you crazy and then there's those special moment when you feel very proud, and it makes it all worthwhile.
My oldest son (14 years old) has been playing clarinet and bass clarinet in middle school. Last fall I signed my daughter up for piano lessons. When my oldest son found out he asked to take piano lessons as well. My daughter (9 years old) likes lessons but doen't practice much. My son has really taken to piano. He practices often and uses it as stress relief, much like us adults do. He'll sit down and play for 15 minutes to relax when math homework has him stressed out. He has improved quite a bit. The two just had their piano recital. I was really proud of both kids but more so for my son because I know it's a labor of love for him. I'm happy that at least one of my three kids has really taken to music.

Thats good that your kids have taken to music. I always wanted to play piano but never had the money. Guitar lessons was kind of a break thru for my boy. He was always very backward around a crowd of people. Never much to say and always stood outside of a crowd, even a bunch of kids. For him to get on stage and play for a whole school and there parents just blew me away. I thought he might backout at the last minute. My wife said that he didn't seem nerves at all. Makes me proud.
