it was nice to see a g&l on the big stage.

on another note, joe perry had like every bootteek amp piled up and managed to get one of the worst tones of all time. i mean it was fuzzy and fizzy and lacked definition and sustain, just an ugly sound. like a cheap solid state amp struggling when pushed with some digital clipping added on top for goof measure. he had marshall, friedman, budda, morris and a few other amps, easily more than 50k worth of amps and cabs to achieve a truly horrific sound.

Me too Louis, same old story though-people voting with their eyes and not their ears! With regards to Perry's terrible tone... Did you notice he was playing Air Guitar? I mean I understand lip syncing to some degree (but if you are gonna do it at least try J-lo) but no one ever under any circumstance should have to pretend to play guitar. There was a point in his solo that the camera was right on perry and his hands were flying around out of sync to the backing track - not cool at all. I told my wife that was the last straw for me and idol - I won't be a returning viewer next year

But that bass is super cool

i don't think he was air guitaring, way too many mistakes for that. lots of reasons why the audio would get out of synch with the picture during a broadcast.
