Re: Legacy Special Headstock logos and plates?
Hi Steve,
Since February of 2011 G&L no longer uses waterside S/N decals on the headstock any more. Instead they use an aluminum brushed plate with the S/N. Many of the left-over S/N decals were used on the early Limited Edition Korina Collection. But production guitars started with S/N061000 and in addition, these plates are used in sequence providing a more accurate chronology on when a guitar is built. With the old system, S/N on instruments built in the same period could be the proverbial miles apart. You can read up on it in this post.
Hope this helps,
- Jos

I noticed in that post that the COAs were signed by Steve Gromm??
I order a COA from G&L and after looking at it find no Steve Gromm signing it just what looks like a stamped signing of Leo"s wife?
Thanks Again for your help,My LS is dated 2001.

There are 3 different kinds of paperwork. You have the G&L Certificate which is signed by Mrs. Fender. Then for any guitar produced post February 2011, there should be 1 (or 2 if the dealer didn't keep their copy) spec sheet which is signed by Steve Grom in =his function of Director of manufacturing. Finally, only when it concerns am instrument built by the Custom Creations Department, you might find a so called Silver Certificate of Authenticity which is nowadays also signed by Steve now in his function of being the Custom Creations Director. Here's a pic of the latter 2 kinds of documents as provided with my Limited Edition Korina Collection Junior II:timewave wrote:[Thanks !
