Do aftermarket tele pups fit into an ASAT Classic?

Post by johnnyqb »

I'n sure this question has been asked a million times, but if I buy some Fender pickups (say, 52 tele or 57/62 tele) will they fit properly into the ASAT Classic, with no mods necessary to pickguard, etc? Thanks.

it should be ok, but why would you want fender pups? there are so many pups available that are better than what fender makes. fralin, lollar, klein, d allen, bare knuckle, nordstrand, klein just to name a few of the tele pup makers.

Yes, see Re: Will a traditional sized MDF neck pup fit in a Fender Tele? (while this post is about the inverse, it does answer your question).

Also, on a related topic, see: ASAT Classic with G&L Alnico pickups!

Hope this helps.

The Fender pups (e.g. Original Vintage) are much less expensive than those boo-teek-ee ones you listed, and are just fine to my ears.
