Oh man.....so excited by this.
Our little 3 piece rockabilly band will be playing with recent Louisiana Music Hall of Fame recipient Al Ferrier!!!
Al is on of the original rockabilly cats from back in the 50's. He rubbed elbows with Elvis and all of the other greats.
Turns out our drummers mother dated his bass player back in the 50's. She got in touch with her cousin that still keeps in touch with him, and HEY PRESTO, we're playing with him in May!
This is going to be so awesome! We already do a couple of his tunes, but man, to do them WITH the guy that originally recorded them.................MAN!
Here we are doing his tune "Blues Stop Knoking (At My Door)

Re: Playing with a legend!!!!
Thanks gang!
Yep, I'm excited and just a bit anxious. Gonna be surreal to be playing these songs, and look over and see the guy that originally recorded them!
Our drummer spoke with Al on the phone. He said he had a ton of great stories about Elvis, Carl Perkins and all the guys he hung out with back in the day.
Can't wait!

Been extremely busy and haven't had time to reply back.
Show was great! Had a great turn out. Al was a bit out of sorts by the time we brought him up on stage. I think it was a mixture of the huge seafood dinner we
had eaten earlier, and the lateness of the hour. We didn't have a chance to run through the songs beforehand, so we just winged it. Al informs us that he was
planning to do the songs in D, not the original key of E, the key of the original recordings!!!!!
So.......we gritted out teeth, and held on for dear life.
We did okay, tripped up a few time. Al lost his place a couple of times, but definitely still has the fire!!
I hope I'm still rocking when I'm 77!
Anyhow...got a few vids. No G&L content, it's Gretsch all the way......

Nice stuff Shaun. And why is it the drummer doesn't have to retune his kit when somebody changes the key just before going on stage? Lucky bastids!

HAHA....Well, Greg does use calf skin heads on his drums. They are constantly going out of "tune"
They sound great, very vintage, but he's thinking of changing them out because of this.
