G&L Legacy vs. Fender MIA Strat

Post by JONAHBOO »

So, over the past 2 weeks i have been looking for 2 guitars....an US Legacy and a US Strat - the plan is to present both to my pop ask him which one I should hold on to and which one i should get rid of!

He gave me my first guitar back in like '83 (a 73 Strat - still got it - someday it'll be my sons)......so this is a lil' payback (though he ain't gettin the '73 back!)

when he points out the one he thinks I should keep - well that'll be his - I'll take the lesser of the 2!

the choices are:
03 USA Fender Strat HSS w/ S-1 switch - 3t s/b - maple neck (paid $550)

USA G&L Legacy SSS 3t s/b - maple neck (paid $700)

I sold my Fender Mark 1 Rhodes + a MIJ Jaguar to fianace this lil project - so no outta pocket expenses - just a re-distribution of well "Fender Products"

oddly enough i got the Strat first and FELL IN LOVE with it!.....got the G&L today, damn sounds better than the Strat - HELLO LOWELL GEORGE FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE!

either way we both win......

the legacy is much better. if it were a contest between a tribute legacy and an mia strat, that would be closer race.

I have a tribute (and think the US Strat has an edge over it - sorry) - though I really love the Tribute - both are great fiddles though

I found after playing some high end am strats that my Legacy Special blows em away. The quality of the G&L passes the am strat IMO, G&L way better! overall sound, quality of the build, and diversity of sounds available on the G&L much much better ....U.S.A. models that is (have not played any Tribs) thats my 2 cents. :D

i have a 02 Fender Hot Rod Fat Strat Texas special Hss I have had for about 6-7 Years. I played a wall full of Strats before I found one I liked.
I have had a 95 Legacy now about 10 years. I picked it up and knew i did not have to try another guitar out at the music store when i bought it.
It felt right.

There are some hit and miss G&L but most of the ones I own or have tried out feel more cosistant than Fenders.
As far as one being better than the other. Nowadays its in your own taste.
But if i had to pick of the two I would pick up the legacy.
My Name Is Chet. I Play A G&L, And A Gretsch.
