Original Bluesboy vs. New Bluesboy

Post by willross »

I understand the the new Bluesboys have the Seth Lover's, but how do they compare to the originals with G&L AS4250B alnico humbucker's? The reason I ask is that Southpaw Guitars has about a dozen of the originals w/ bi-cut necks. I'm considering a Semi-Hollow Sea-foam Green double-bound or a Semi-hollow Butterscotch...

Cheers,

Will

Hmm, some confusion here. :confused0007:

The original 1999 ASAT Blues Boy Special Edition had the Seth Lover neck pickup. In 2001,
G&L created the ASAT Classic Bluesboy as a standard production model. It had the same pickups as
the Special Edition. In 2005, G&L built the ASAT Classic "Blues Boy" Special Build which had the G&L
AS4250B alnico humbucker (without the cover) neck pickup with a Mahogany neck and body. Only 28 were
producted. There was also a short period of a couple of months (not sure off the top of my head which year)
that the standard production ASAT Classic Bluesboy had the G&L humbucker (without the cover) in place of
the Seth Lover neck pickup, but it was changed back to the original neck pickup due to dealer and customer
pressure.

The Tribute ASAT Bluesboy Semi-Hollow came out in 2007 and has always had the G&L AS4250B humbucker
neck pickup with the cover.

I think you mean that Southpaw has a dozen of the original standard production models w/bi-cut necks,
right?

Hope this helps.

I grabbed the info from their website and the owner, Jim Duncan. The buckers' DO have covers. I'll be speaking w/ him tomorrow and see what the deal is. That Sea-Foam Green is nice looking... Will

Hey Will,

Was about to answer but Craig beat me again with basically the same response  Given all info provided, I betcha it is a Seth Lover after all. Might just be some misunderstanding. Also betcha it is well worth it!

I spoke with Jim and his info is all wrong. He said it would be corrected, but seemed more preoccupied with new Gibson pricing, etc... Nice guy, so I'll see what numbers & specs he emails to me.

Cheers,
