Suggestions for "aging" MFD pickup covers
I finally got a set of MFD pickups for my Legacy. Problem is that there are only 2 color choice options. (Black & White) I need them to be more Cream colored to match the pickguard. I have heard about using tea or coffee to stain them and I am sure that would work if I could actually soak the covers but since they are part of the pickup, that is not an option. Any other suggestions that has worked?

G&L's Online Store does offer Legacy pup covers in creme with which you can replace the current covers. Will set you back another $20 or so (including S/H) for a triplet but heck ... You can also take the covers of your pickups (carefully) and do what you describe too.shankyboy wrote:I finally got a set of MFD pickups for my Legacy. But as far as I understood, shankyboy got some S-500 pickups for use in his Legacy.yowhatsshakin wrote: does offer Legacy pup covers in creme
I never got in touch with recent S-500 pickups, but they should have removable covers. But maybe they are waxed, so one has to be carefully when removing them. Maybe warm them up with a hair dryer, but carefully.
I guess, I'd solve the problem by buying a new pick guard, as white ones are pretty boring anyway.

Yes, the pickups I purchased are the MFD pickups which come on the S500. I'll have to take a better peek at the covers and see if they can be removed without damaging the pickups. My Legacy is Fullerton Red with the cream colored pickguard & knobs which is a perfect combo in my opinion. I don't think a white pickguard and knobs would look as good.
