L2000 question

Post by jayochs »

so, i've got a G&L L2000 Signature model from 1987...my registry page is here:

S/N
Model Neck Date Body Date Color Fretboard Body Bridge Other Features Owner
1. B022698 L-2000 Signature NOV 15, 1987 Clear Forest Green Maple Swamp Ash Saddle-Lock No date on neck, #5 flat sawn. Leo Fender on horn and headstock, jayochs@gmail.com

(sorry, i can't figure out how to link it :( )

but my question is, what was the difference back then between signature models and regular models? i got this bad boy used at guitar center back in 2006 for only $650...seriously. no joke. $650. and there was NOTHING wrong with it. no dings, nothing. it's in perfect condition.

i mean, GC had brand new L2000's for their usual price of around $1400, so why wouldn't something that could be considered "vintage" nowadays cost more?? either way, it was a steal, and i just bought it with a smirk on my face lol

but yeah, is there anything special about my bass that i'm unaware of? all i know is that it's as old as me, and that it's got leo's sig on it.

That is an unbelievable score! When I check out the price guides, your L-2000 Sig was a steal. FYI, the Signature generally adds something between $75-$125 to the resell value of your bass.

I wouldn't worry too much about being off by a month as far as use of the Signature is concerned. Maybe this one was built in preparation for the Winter NAMM in January '88 ;)

Compliments :happy0065:
