Howdy all,
The moon and sky was amazing last night, almost makes up for the lack of sunshine
I made a stash of veggie burgers last night (beans, veggies, spices, and grains).
I'm looking forward to a spicy homemade burger with a Sanpelligrino orange,
and one of these for dessert:
I got a good deal on an '80 F-100 body, bridge, and neck a few years back.
Someone was pretty coarse with pickup changes and general care, but the neck is
straight ,strong and just feels great...Thanks George and Leo!!
The body had some stickers and residue and I've tried to clean it up without abrasives,
a refinish might be in order, but I'll see if I get a semi-uniform look/feel with a bit more
elbow grease and some fine grit paste.
It is probably one the most comfortable guitars I have.
I had to replace some non original saddles (they were too wide) with the ghost piezo's
because the old F-100 saddles are a tad skinnier (the piezos aren't connected).
Since the graphtechs are softer I could file 1/32 or so off each side.
G&L must have changed the specs mid 80's, I'm not sure.
The serial is G000893, I better register it with footnotes .
I put 4 old SC-3 MFDs in it, not real pretty at the moment but it's still a work in progress.
Toggle 1) switches neck pair - single/parallel/series
Toggle 2) switches bridge pair - single/parallel/series
Toggle 3) switches neck config and bridge config from single/parallel/series ( in single mode
only the neck pair is connected )
Tone and Vol pots on the neck pair, and master volume .
I'm sure there will be revisions ,this one's getting better all the time
I expected some noisy/unuseable permutations, but nothing too off base.
running 4 MFDs in series is something I had to try.
I'll upload some sound clips soon.
I use SoundCloud to share tunes, it seems very user friendly, not alot of ads, and is easy to use.
http://soundcloud.com/tour
Maybe we could start a G&L heavy group of clips there that's easy to add to .
Do you use any cool music sharing sites?
Even better would be to bestow what might be the highest honor for a G&L member to
receive, that is...
...to let them play YOUR G&L .
We should organize a NW GbLers Jam and Get together ...I'll bring the bread !!
I've started a new series of paintings,
...maybe a cross section of a note ( neck pickup, large mfd ) :
Thanks for all the input this week,
I've had fun. I'll be nominating a reporter for next week soon,
Elwood

I want some bread! I love the idea of making bread, but my bread from starters is so far sub-par.
Great painting.
cheers, jg

Elwood, that is a cool F-100 with all the pickup combinations. It reminds me of the Brian May I had a couple of years ago with all the switches. It does give you choices. Thanks for you LR's this week. It has been especially interesting and the coolest assortment of projects and things.-- Darwin

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You are one amazing gent, Elwood. Thanks for sharing your many projects and talents. You painting is incredible, the bread looks most delicious (as always) and that F-100 project is so da*m clever in so many ways. btw, those old SC-3 pickups are just killer! Looking forward to hearing clips. Great idea you've got with that and with the Jam. Being on the East coast, maybe I could Skype in? Fantastic week! - ed

Re: Friday Lunch Report
I missed a lot of the forum this week I had the day off and slept for 10 hours though I awoke many times and even continued reading a book off and on during that time. I am a different person. I am unable to get the rest I need very often. A cup of coffee tastes entirely different when you are well-rested.
I love bread. When I feel sick I can eat bread and especially its relative, pastry, and I will feel better like taking aspirin for a headache.
If you mentioned it elsewhere I am just learning that you paint. I also paint. That looks like acrylic I missed most LR content this week if you mentioned it already.
A NW jam would be fun. I love the NW and it is worth the travel though I am located on the W coast.

Re: Friday Lunch Report
Cool week. I've been pretty busy, but have enjoyed peeking in on the miscellaneous projects. I love scheming about projects but am horrible about finishing them. So much so that I feel like a total failure sometimes, but then I tell myself it is what it is, find happiness in the things I actually do accomplish and in knowing I've got a wonderful wife, a running car and a roof over my head.
A guitar like that F-100, that's structurally sound but butchered up can be lot of fun. When somebody else has already taken the first chunk out of it with a screwdriver, you're pretty free to do whatever you think up.
I think you should cut a pickguard to fit it, hook up those saddles and call it finished.

Yeah, I'm in the "hook up the saddles" camp as well. Why the heck not?

Hi Elwood,
a little late in my reply today. Great week of reports. Fascinating projects, wish I had a fraction of your skills.
That F100 looks really interesting. Maybe you could make up some sort of pickup mounting rings to cover the routes but instead of a pickguard. Just a thought.
