When G&L reissued an update to the SC-2 in 2008, the neck was Satin GOT (Vintage tint) with the
front of the headstock with a Gloss finish. I have a 2009 SC-2 and I really like the look and feel of
the neck. Here's a picture of the back of the headstock and neck, in an attempt to show what it
looks like:

Note: the neck has started to darken a bit likely due to the oils in my hand. The back of the headstock is
what the neck looked like new.

Hope this helps.

I have gloss and satin necks. I love gloss necks and they are only sticky if they are nitro. (lacquer)-- Darwin

This depends on the climate and your hands. People have a varying amount of sensitivity to such things. It is definitely stickier feeling than satin but not necessarily the sticky character associated with nitro finishes. Satin does not allow moisture to collect on a smooth surface. A gloss finish does. That moisture feels sticky to some people. My hands do not glide on it as well as satin for instance even though the gloss is smoother. It is the element of moisture that makes the difference. The satin is very smooth, just not slick. It is like smooth dry wood vs glass. Your hand may not glide over a glass surface as well if moisture is present despite it being smoother. The smooth dry wood does not exhibit that problem, in my experience at least.

I do.

The light tint looks better than the full tint in more cases.

I prefer the regular satin otherwise.

That black strat once had a rosewood fretboard as well. People think of it the way it is often displayed especially with the relic model available. Not many think of the crude bondo job it has after he experimented with a humbucker. I don't hink the relic model includes that.
