G&L MFD and SC pickups - resistance measurements

Post by donnyb »

Hi,

Can anyone advise the resistance readings across the wires at the back of these pickups, for the various positions these are placed in?

Thanks, Don

An MFD pickup might be a single coil or a humbucker. What you might want to know is what a vintage alnico single coil, like it is used in the Legacy (only), has compared to a MFD single coil?

The thing is, ohmic resistance values are absolutely not comparable between these pickup types. A MFD produces the same output with less windings, so the resistance might be the half of an alnico pickup while it has at least the same output.

But anyway, here you might find the answer: GL_Guitar_Pickups

See the G&L Knowledgebase, General G&L Questions sub-forum: List of pickups used in G&L guitars. It has the individual DC-R readings for each pickup type. It does
not contain the various combinations though.

Hope this helps.
