asat with dual fulcrum
hello, ive been looking to buy an asat for a little while and now i have my heart set on one with a dual fulcrum vibrato/trem. i checked google and only found one currently for sale, either new or used, and then decided to check the registry here. there's only 23 registered! i like to buy used for several reasons, but am i barking up the wrong tree? are they just scarce at the moment or should i just call my dealer and bite the bullet? thanks in advance

They really are pretty uncommon. I think you'll be looking for quite a while before you find one and, if/when you do, it'll be a crapshoot whether or not the color/woods/etc appeal to you.
OTOH, there are lots of newish SC-2s (and a few old ones) out there with 2 ASAT MFDs and a DF vibrato...

arablue,
We seem to be on the same search, so you gotta ask yourself, what ASAT model did you have in mind, (could not tell if you had a preference). Is it for the ASAT body or the pups? (ASAT or SC-2) Yes they are fairly uncommon, so you can keep up the search or special order for what you want spec wise. Belair is a sweet color IMHO, so don't discount it too much.
Happy hunting!

that is what i am after. asat body, df(s) trem, large mfd's, 2 or 3. there was one for sale not long ago, but light blue and rosewood board. i want maple for sure and preferably not solid color.

Re: asat with dual fulcrum
as soon as i checked the registry, i figured there wold be some other gentlemen after the same thing. i really like the asat shape, though i havent played a sc2 so i dont want to discount it. im pretty easy on finish and fretboards, ive had several guitars with similar builds but different woods that sounded pretty similar, to my ears at least. a guy on thegearpage had a asat III with trem that was pretty neat.
i want a sound thats clear without being bright so i tend to gravitate towards maple fretboards and alder bodies, but as i said ive had pleasant experiences with other materials as well. all in all, i might just that asat from fatsound in chapel hill. they seem to really have their stuff together. or maybe a sc2 with a mustang-type pickguard....?
