how will i know if i wanna dance with somebody?
i just watched a recap of Whitney's career on vh1. they played how will i know, i wanna dance with somebody, the greatest love of all, i am every woman and other great hits. this girl was probably one of the all time best singers and one of the most beautiful woman who ever lived. from about 85 to 91 when she sang the national anthem at the superbowl (imnsho, the best ever rendition of that song), she was it. both musically and looks wise. remained hot til 97-98, but once she entered her mid 30's that was it. it is truly sad what happened to her. not the dying, but the downward spiral in the past 13 or so years. i will miss her, but i have missed her for a long time. she has been gone for many years.

She died 90 years old at 48. She had a vibrant spark of life that came through in her singing and a voice that could eloquently express it. That spark was doused by drugs many years ago. In recent years she did not have the breath and energy to perform a single song without needing a break during the process. She also did not have the breath or energy to get over the weight of negativity running through her. A very sad situation indeed.louis cyfer wrote:...it is truly sad what happened to her. not the dying, but the downward spiral in the past 13 or so years. i will miss her, but i have missed her for a long time. she has been gone for many years.

I was never a fan. I'm not knocking her talent; I just didn't get into her music. One thing I do appreciate about her, though: she did it without pitch correction.

I was never a big fan of hers, but I always enjoyed her songs when I heard them, and agree that she was one of the best female vocalists the music world has seen in the past few decades..."was" being the operative term there. So sad...
