Howdy all!
Back on January 20 I proudly posted pics of my new ASAT Tribute which Michael-GnL-Michael appropriately helped me name her "Shirleyburst". Shirley had an issue that well, she needed an uplift of sorts. The pics taken then were from the box and the "minor" tuning issues I had were found to be a twisted neck. The seller graciously refunded a portion of the cost and we were both happy. Well, I was less happy because I needed a new neck. It was to be a project guitar anyway, so I did not mind since I had my eye on a Tribute neck on ebay. Won the bid war for the neck at about the same price as refund so now I was happy. The neck was a perfect match and only had to re-fill and re-drill screw holes which were slightly off. So now here is Shirleyburst with a sleek 12" radius Legacy maple neck (2011) which I would take over the standard 9" ASAT neck (2003) also pictured, in heartbeart.
Plugged her in today and she will be the perfect candidate for a ASAT Classic Custom I do believe. Or may just leave her the way she is for a while, these tribby's are very impressive IMHO.

That was a win win Sam. I think you are saying the new Tribute Legacy neck has a 12" radius or is it an American neck?-- Darwin'

Thanks Darwin,
Yep, it's a Tribute Legacy neck and based on G&L specs they have a 12" radius while ASAT's have a 9" radius. The American necks do not fit tribbys correctly.

.
Sam,
I am honored to be credited with any part in naming your guitar. Thank you.
I thought ASATs and Legacys had a scale discrepancy. My Legacy neck seems longer as in the frets are further apart than my ASAT's (both are USA models). I have not measured them, even eyeballing. It definitely feels so significant that I just took it for granted.
Or maybe the neck length does not mean the guitar cannot be played and tuned with other neck types. I thought there would be some sort of mathematical calculation to honor in guitar design.

Michael,
Shirleyburst sends her regards
Dude, on the Tribute side this is apparently a different story. Granted, the 2003 version is different than the 2011 version as far as screw holes but the pocket is very tight. As far as mathematiacal calculations go I can't say, (I married an engineer for that stuff ) but it's a 2 3/16 heel and all tribbys have those so it fits well. American versions are a whole different story.

They both have a 25.5" scale neck. Measure from the bottom of the nut to the bridge saddles and you will see this.Michael-GnL-Michael wrote:.
