The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.
Just got a used clear red swamp ash Invader from guitar center and it's great!
I'm replacing the USA Floyd with a German-made Floyd Rose and had a question about the G&L string spacing at the nut. When I measure the nut on my guitar it's 1 11/16", and on the order page there are two options. There's a "Van Halen" string spacing for 1 11/16", and also a "Narrow" string spacing.
Am I right in assuming that my G&L is "F-spaced" and therefore needs the narrow-spaced nut?

Hey turbo,
I can't see why you would need to replace your nut, regardless of which bridge you get. The "f-spaced", otherwise known as "fender spaced" refers to the distance between the strings at the bridge pickup. If G&L's are f-spaced, which would make sense, the bridge you get needs to match that due to the pickup being that size. If you get a more narrow bridge your E strings may not line up on the two outside poles of the pickup.
I wouldn't want to change the bridge, but I think something may be wrong with my original Floyd. The guitar is almost new but the trem seems a bit off performance-wise and is very squeaky. I may just need a new piece where the bar connects to the trem and I'll try that before replacing it, but I've got other USA Floyds and something is not quite right.
As far as the nut goes, I may not replace it, but I think it's included with the trem I was looking at. I know which model to order now though, thanks for the tip!
