3 bolt ASAT neck radii

Post by sickbutnottired »

Are there 3 bolt ASAT's with 12" neck radius? Or is that a newer feature? I was sure that I have heard of 3 bolts with the 12" r, but had a couple of resellers have told me 'not so' recently.

I know this is probably out there somewhere, but a brief search and some browsing didn't uncover it. So thanks in advance!

Yes, the Invaders and Superhawks had 12" radius. I've read that there were a few Rampages that made it out with a 12" radius.

One of my ASATs has a 12" radius, with a neck date of 5/16/86. My Superhawk's neck (dated 12/21/86) also has a 12" radius. All of my other Leo-era G&Ls are 7.5".

The '86 ASAT's feel is distinctly different from the 7.5" radius on my '88 ASAT. To me it feels just like my '95 John Jorgenson. To my knowledge, the JJ's only came with a 12" radius. By the way, they were three-bolt necks as well.

If you look in the old price lists in the Gallery, you'll see the different neck options available in those years.

The ASAT Deluxe has / had a 12" radius, I have a late '90s three bolt neck one.

Not to mention G&L's first model, the F-100, which came with either 12" ("Series I") or 7.5" (Series II") radius...

Also, check out the post in the G&L Knowledgebase: What are the USA neck size options, past and present?

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone! Craig, I knew I had seen that post in the past, but couldn't lay my eyes on it. Thanks again!

I knew about f-100 series I/II as I have had both of them, but there are a lot of options.
