Lunch today will likely be a cup of coffee, as breakfast was late but a very tastey dish of french toast- real butter, genuine maple syrup and spiced grilled potates. The coffee is a home brewed Caribou Costa Rican.
G&L topic: What option not currently available in the G&L line would you like to see offered. This could be something new or something you would to see return.
Non-G&L topic: Have you ever met someone, say while traveling. A seatmate on a plane perhaps that you suspected was con artist or B.S.er? What was the lie or outrageous tale they told about themsleves?

Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
Hey Jagin,
welcome to the LR, hope you have a fun week, looking forward to it.
Lunch,
Todays lunch will be a potluck before we head out to a wake for my wife's grandpa. He passed away last thursday after a short fight with cancer. He made it to his 100th year, so while it was not unexpected, it will still be tough to say goodbye.
G&L
I can't think of any option that i would like to see either appear or make a return. I have taken advantage of many of the options when ordering in the past, and can't imagine having even more choices!
B.Ser's
I have an uncle (by way of second marriage ) whom lives out west who fits that description. I cannot even talk to this guy. I don't want to get into specifics but the tales that come out of his mouth are out of control

Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
Hey Jag, thanks for the LR's this week. I just had some soup and left over chicken from Saturday night.
What would I like to see changed? It is in the pickguard department. I would like to see all G&L's available without a pickguard and I would like to see replacement pickguards available from G&L without having to send an old one in for a pattern. I have changed several other brands pickguards and have never had a fit issue.I would like to see standard holes going forward and I would also like to see loaded pickguard assys with plug and play capability available much like Taylor does on the SB series. They are under $200 for a loaded assy. I could see a market for this. and it would be a 10 minute swap with a plug in harness. This would not be any additional engineering costs or parts they don't already have but simply a new marketing approach. I could be wrong but it doesn't seem too difficult.
I have been subjected to that on a train trip from Stockholm to Oslo. There was an elderly American MD on the train who had his medical license revoked in the US for his controversial treatments. He wouldn't leave us alone, as he immediately recognized us as Americans. He spent a lot of time trying to convince us his ideas were medically sound and that his wife had left him because of all this. He was on the way to Oslo to write papers. He was trying to convince me that If I would import antibiotics from Mexico and take daily dozes, I would live much longer. He did everything except examine me on the train. I had a cold one after arriving in Oslo!!!! -- Darwin

Seems like a great idea that will also bring down production costs!darwinohm wrote:I would like to see standard holes going forward and I would also like to see loaded pickguard assys with plug and play capability available much like Taylor does on the SB series. Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
I would buy a 7 string longer scale, or baritone ASAT in a heartbeat if G&L offered one. That would be excellent.
I met a lot of folks travelling recently, just got back from a 21 day work shift, on day 4 of 21 of not work (it is pretty damned sweet). Everyone I met seemed pretty down to earth though, met quite a few players, guitarist and otherwise, even in the mine.
I'm with Darwin on pickguards, as I tried to get them to do a no pickguard one (seeing as it was a special, no overrout anyway). The only way it was doable was to pay for a ASAT special deluxe and downgrade the top to ash, with an ash body (no cost recoup however), so I opted to do something special which I am fortunately very happy with.
Also drinking a coffee, a cuppa french pressed kicking horse, 'mexican' for now.

Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
darwin, i have a quick connect on all my strat pickguards. makes swapping guards a breeze. otoh, it takes me 10 minutes to swap them even without the quick connect, the soldering takes only 2 minutes. the reason i have them, when i work on the guitar and need to take the pickguard off, it doesn't dangle on there, i just unplug it and put it aside.
i would like to see 9.5" radius fretboard available, jescar evo frets, a few more frets size options, no pickguard option on all guitars like darwin said. tru-oil neck finish option. black hardware option. also a delron 500 cl nut instead of the graphtec. far superior and less expensive. also i can not find if shielding is an option or standard on any single coil. the website is almost entirely useless to try to fin information. but shielding should be at least an option on all single coil guitars, making it standard would be even better. nitro finish should be an option as well, a lot of people like nitro. i like how it feels on the body.

Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
Today's lunch was a salad with roasted chicken on top.
I love all the ideas above. I would add that I would want a compound radius neck, but for some reason, I bet if I had one, I'd be disappointed. Don't know why, just think I would.
One of my pet peeves is that I can't stand arrogant blow hards. They know everything, just ask em. My niece just married a guy like that, high school science teacher, knows everything. Its all about him and he has never, ever asked me a question, just gives opinions, which are always right, just ask him.
Drives me crazy and its only cause I'm a nice guy and like to remain married, that I don't turf the guy outta the house.
The only good news is, that I have been around long enough to know that most people who are arrogant and know everything, fall really hard when they crash!!!!!!!!!
Life's hard, why be a dick?

Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
I LOVE French toast. Instead of potatoes though, I'll have some unhealthy pork product, please. And pass that coffee, if you please!
As far as G&L options, I'm partial to the black crinkle hardware. I also like the nitro finish option suggested above. It would also be cool if one could get their MFDs over- or under-wound to taste. But I'm not holding my breath.
Back in the early 1980s, I rode from Cincinnati to Baltimore on a Greyhound bus sitting next to a guy who thought he was Jesus. I knew he wasn't who he thought he was, though. I'm confident that Jesus had better hygiene. It was a long, long ride...... - ed

Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
I flew from Baltimore to SC a couple of months ago. A guy with an acoustic guitar in a gig bag showed up at the gate right behind me. I didn't really notice him at first, but then I kept hearing him mention to various people that he was on his way to a gig. Nothing unusual at first, but after about the fifth or sixth time I figured the guy had to be pretty proud of having that out-of-town gig, maybe that he even fancied himself a star. He sat a couple of rows in front of me on the flight, and it continued while we were in the air. Every so often I would hear him saying something about his gig. He was extremely polite, but just seemed to think everybody on the plane cared about where he was going. I had him pegged as a major BS-er.
On the way out of baggage claim I noticed his name on the gig bag and Googled it. Turns out he IS a pretty big figure in country music. He's played as a sideman on hundreds of records, and has his own show on the Country Music Television network. If I remember correctly, he's hosted the Country Music Awards once or twice as well. I guess a lot of the folks on the plane really DID care about his upcoming gig. It was nice to realize that somebody with that much name recognition would take the time to chat with everybody who approached him.

Re: French Toast for Breakfast Lunch Report
Jag,
I have French toast more often than anything for lunch I didn't have time for lunch today though. I just grabbed two slices of lunchmeat and stuffed them in my mouth.
G&L: A currently unavailable option on a G&L that I would like to see offered are noiseless MFDs in all sizes.
Non-G&L: I did not meet him but I was in a restaurant and overheard two elderly men having a conversation at an adjacent table. One spoke as if he was directly involved in international intrigue with firsthand positioning in the Kennedy assassination investigation. I looked over at them when my ear caught the subject matter as it was not just the typical Joe rattling on about it from a public perspective. The man doing most of the talking spoke more about the personalities of people. However, after I observed the other man who was mostly listening it seemed to me that one guy was just a big talker and the other guy seemed like an acquaintance wishing he were either with someone else or someplace else entirely. I have heard guys like this on talk radio. This guy could have listened to a lot of radio and watched a lot of television. He had the whole mannerism down. He never spoke of himself or defined his role. He just talked about key people in a way Orson Wells might have described famous people he had worked closely with. Regular people do not talk like that unless they are being interviewed or at least being questioned. The man with this guy could not have gotten a word in if he wanted to. This guywas enjoying himself too much. Now I could not have known the truth and this is only the way things appeared to me at the time. There is enough room for this to have been a guy talking about people he did actually know and the quiet man might have felt his life experiences were not worth bringing up. I could go on about other details that supported my impression it was all BS but people might have skipped my post already after seeing it was so long. This was just the closest thing I have to your non-G&L topic of the day to share.
