NGD!!

Post by sam »

I am now a member of the ASAT Tribute club!

Found this little looker on the 'Bay, she was on the fast track price and I had to grab her before some other lucky person did. No chance to put her through the motions hope she sounds as good as she looks. 8-)

Good one Sam. Love the cherry finish.

I have a natural finish ash Tribby ASAT Special of the same vintage and I lurve it. Mine is on the heavy side but the sound from the big MFD's is superb. One thing to watch out for is scratchy pots. Other than that, I couldn't fault the build or set up on mine.

.

Congratulations on snapping up that beautiful guitar Sam!

Even if it requires a little upgrading there is a lot of room at such a great price.

Sam,
Nice Tribute!!! I think if I ever got a Tribbie again it would be one of the older MIK Tribbies.

Toilet Seat pickguards..... pearloid, tortoise ect...
All my guitars have them except my Ibanez AS120. I might change it.
Even my Takamine and my Gibson J50 have factory tortoise shell guards
I play better with a pearloid pickguard  At least I think I do.

Thank you all,

Still working on what her name will be, but surely (don't call me Shirley) it will be appropriate. Maybe she should be "Shirley".

Ya know, I always wanted a cherryburst ASAT and now I have one. Darwin, we all want your guitars so I can say I got a "Darwin".

My cherryburst search began with a G&L slick of a ASAT sig in cherryburst in 1990 and I am one step closer.

Forgot about pots etc., will change as needed. Have been kown to re-dress a guitar on occasion, will see what happens.

The p' guard was as purchased. Funny thing, I have a Z3 with a pearl guard that IMHO fits her quite well. For this tribby, she is quite comfortable in her skin.

JagInTheBag, we're on the same page, opinions are like AS....., and then there are the whiners. I do have another pearl guard that is G&L approved.

[thumb=]Image[/thumb]

All seriousness aside, I look forward to seeing where my tribby takes me coz' she is truly nice to look at and hold. :luv:

Sam, that is one hot Z-3. It reminds me of the Red Caddies in the late 50's/60's. Nothing but class!-- Darwin

Hey Sam,

Great little addition to the family you have there. I have played some of the early tributes with the big "TRIBUTE" writing across the headstock and they were spectacular. I often wondered why G&L did them because they were so good i thought they were just competing with themselves... I sure she will get a lot of playing time, enjoy!

And by the way, this is the thread of the year so far!!! :happy0007: funny, funny stuff :happy0065:

Beautiful guitar Sam! The delicate red glow of 'Shirleyburst' reminds me of my pre-BBE ASAT III with maple body.

And great guitar Scott. Barely can find the controls in all the glitter ;)

Scott, what a coincidence, there is a Godin Radiator on CL in southern Minnesota. It doesn't even look like they have knobs. it is an interesting gizmo!

Sam, I cannot get by the Z-3 you pictured. It is sensational! I think you should give me a call as it could be neglected after your new purchase. I would wax it and admire it with due respect. That new Special is awesome and I know the Z-3 feels bad!! -- Darwin -- I think I will have a cold one :luv:

Darwin,

Thank you for the kudo's to the Z3, yes I too think she's sensational. I will do all possible to not neglect her, but you will be first on the list to call should she need waxing, admiration and playing that only you could provide. ;) BTW she has a Will Ray Bridge p-up in her as well :smoking030:

That much MOTS, on the Godin, is shameless fun! And makes this contributor feel young like schooldays (50's England).
And the Will Ray back pup in that Z3 is just the best tuff bridge singlecoil, fantastic. Love mine.
