Good Day to All!
Lunch: Leftovers from our trip yesterday - Enchiladas, r/b
G&L Question: Every morning my routine is to turn on CNBC and just listen to the daily babble to give me a sense of what's going on financially in the world. Every once in a while you get the - dun, dun DUN!!! Company X was bought/sold/taken over by Company Y, and then they cut away to the stock price, etc...
What if you woke up one day and read, "BBE Sound Inc. was bought by/sold to/in-talks with _________________"
Is there a guitar company, group, etc out there you would be glad/ok/wait and see with, and on the flip side is there a company where you would just go on a Tarantino movie murder spree?
Non G&L Question: My apologies in advance if this has been discussed. I remember thinking when I started learning to play, I was listening to SRV's Riviera Paradise and wondering how it would sound on a G&L Legacy.
Anyone have a certain song or player they wonder how it/they would sound on a G&L?
Funny how I find myself listening to music these days vs just hearing it.
Edit: Just noticed how G&L-ish my Non G&L question was.
Have a good one!

Re: Jan 17 Lunch Report
No lunch today preparing for a medical procedure tomorrow.
G&L question: The company in this scenario would be Apple with Steve Jobs buying out G&L. Steve would be alive and well into his late 90's in my plan. There are hundreds/thousands of companies that I would not be happy about buying G&L, if it were just about every shoe company it would be the end of the world the way quality has plummeted in the last 6 years.
Non-G&L question: Many famous musicians have modified their guitars so a G&L is probably closer to their modified (improved) sound right from the factory compared to, say, stock Fenders in similar price categories at least. I can imagine any song using a Strat being done on a G&L Legacy........to gain a sense for a Tele song done on an ASAT one might listen to Johnny Hiland on his PRS. Not that the PRS sounds like an ASAT, but the chickin' pickin' style played on the typically non-country PRS (thicker) is comparable in certain aspects to the gain in beef you might hear from ASATs. I am not a fan of the typically thin twang of Tele chickin' pickin' but I really enjoy it when played using a beefier tone.

Lunch today was soup!
"FENDER guitar company announced today the acquisition of BBE Sound. Creates new Custom Shop division with G&L, triples prices for G&L guitars, kills off current custom shop division"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Depending on what I am going to practice, determines which guitar I use, that's the beauty of it all!

Re: Jan 17 Lunch Report
No time for lunch today so dinner will be well received.
BBE Sound Inc. bought/sold/in-talks with would be a VERY BIG "ummm" moment. I am sure there could be a buyer that would keep it going but the G&L brand would vanish IMHO, i.e. Look at Guild - Fender. Hamer and Heritage have been thrown as possible matches here around in years past but I prefer to have Darth Invader and crew at the helm.
I would love to see / hear John 5 with an ASAT in his hands running everything from chikin pikin to metal. That dude can play and he needs a G&L in his hands.

Re: Jan 17 Lunch Report
Had the usual sandwich for lunch today and then into some guitar work.
I would hate to see G&L sold to anyone. My biggest fear would be the big F company. They have bought up so many already and it does not help competition.
I am not partial to any guitars or brands as long as they have a good product. I like all of mine and they all do something well. -- Darwin

the only bigger fear than fender buying g&l would be gibson doing so. either one would be horrible. the more small companies there are out there, making a great product, the better for us all.

One of the Two Headed Monsters buying G&L..... Hmmmmm......
If Fender bought them I would still be a customer.
If Gibson bought them I would have to say... Adios!
Legacy work good with Texas Blues... The Legacy and S-500 do just fine even jazzy SRV songs.
Lunch I had leftovers... I am from Texas too Enchiladas, Tamales, or any Tex-Mex is great Lunch or even Breakfast food.

Re: Jan 17 Lunch Report
Not much for me to add other than Tarantino movie murder spree sounds like a hilariously cool band name.
I would have liked to have heard Joe Strummer with an ASAT.
