strings

Post by rochie555 »

Hi guys, Ive just bought a G&L tribute, 4 string. I only have it about a week and im chuffed with it. I am just wondering if anyone knows what strings are fitted as standard when the bass leaves the factory,make gauge etc.
I really like the strings fitted but would like to know what they are when i need to replace them.
Regards Rochie.

Search the G&L Knowledgebase and you will find: What gauge & brand of strings does G&L use on their guitars?

Hope this helps.

The gauges listed are incorrect;

The EXL170 sets are nickel lights, .45, .60, .85, .100 for the 4 strings. Add a .130 for the super long scale 5 string set.

Current G&L (USA and Tribute) 4 string basses are top loaders, so standard 34" scale strings are what you need. The 5 string basses need the super long sets because it is recommended that these basses be strung thru-body.

I don't recall any 4 string G&L basses that are thru-body unless the old Kahler-equipped Interceptor is being referenced, and even that is a top loader. This may hark back to the CLF Research days and the pre-EBMM StingRay,

Hi Ken,

Oops :oops:

Thanks for the correction on the string gauges. I've updated the Knowledgebase post.
