Boss NR-2 Noise Reduction
i have an '11 ASAT Classic that is DA BOMB..Maple Board, Butterscotch Ash Body..My true dream machine!! But as with all single coil pickups, you get 60 cycle hum..And my bass player hates it!! But I picked up a Boss NS-2 Noise suppressor that works great!! I can use my overdrive and compressor in front of it, and it still kills all the hum without prematurely chopping off any notes..It's a great pedal for a reasonable price..Scott

Good for you Louis, but some of us have Boss pedals that actually do everything we need.louis cyfer wrote:i tried those, and hated it. ended up with the isp decimator g string. what a difference.
Sorry if Boss and other low brow brands offend you, but you don't have to poop on everyone's parade dude.

Re: Boss NR-2 Noise Reduction
actually i like the dynamic wah and the power stack i believe. the difference in the level of performance between the isp and the ns2 is quite significant. i love the mxr classic od and distortions, those are 30 bucks each. i don't care about the name, nor the price. learning about alternatives that may do the same thing better, is not a bad thing. i understand that there is such a thing as good enough. for some people something maybe good enough, and for others, they search for more. i do have to say, most boss pedals are usually not good enough for me. but i only say that of the ones i have tried. i do have a ds-1 that is phenomenal. (modded though).Philby wrote:Good for you Louis, but some of us have Boss pedals that actually do everything we need.louis cyfer wrote:i tried those, and hated it. ended up with the isp decimator g string. what a difference.

Re: Boss NR-2 Noise Reduction
90% of my pedals are Boss pedals. I have a Boss NR-2 Noise Supresor, it sucks the tone from the guitar. I also have a The Electro-Harmonix Hum Debugger that works better but it still sucks the tone from the guitar. I IMHO a set of noiseless single coil pick ups would be better than a Noise pedal. The best thing to do if you have normal single coils is to is to just turn the volume of the guitar down when you are not playing. Also, if you like a single coil pick up sound nothing is going to sound better than a single coil pick up.

i agree with you, the only noise reduction pedal i have found to not take the the tonbe, and let you still play single coils, as you said nothing elkse sounds like them, is the isp g-string. not cheap, but i habe no effect on the tone other than loss of noise.otis66 wrote:90% of my pedals are Boss pedals. i bought it at guitar center for 29.95 and got a discount off of that. i believe they made the mxr classic overdrive specially for guitar center to sell. i am not sure if they still have some in stock.jayochs wrote:louis, i tried looking, but where are those MXR OD's for 30 bucks!? i've been running an SD-1 for years now..love it, but looking to try some other stuff in front of my DSL100
