Since you are referring to the ASAT Special Deluxe, I assume you have the large MFD in mind and as far as I know there is not a model that has combined that MFD with a bucker. But if you talk about the vintage style MFD, G&L did release a model in an instrument that has otherwise all characteristics, i.e. maple top, MFD, and humbucker, the Special Build ASAT Classic Bluesboy with spalted maple top. And there happens to be an eBay auction offering that model.

Hope this helps and Feliz Navidad!

First off, $1,699US seems like a lot of money for a 2006 modified ASAT Special Deluxe; pristine exemplars here in the US would go for somewhere around $1,200-$1,300. So the $1,100 mentioned by one of the commenters on the auction seems to be more reasonable. But of course, you are in Argentina and I do not know what the going rate is for imported US G&L's. What to look out for? Who replaced the bridge pickup and what is the quality of work? At least this person used a pickup with the correct pole spacing: one of SD Trembucker models. I guess you would have to try it out yourself. The closest model in my collection is an ASAT HB which has a G&L bucker (AW4370B) at the bridge and a vintage style Alnico V (Legacy) pickup in the neck. No maple top or anything just solid mahogany body. That guitar sounds very good and I like it a lot. A little more aggression with a mellower/rounder tone. So the guitar shown could be great.

Hope this helps,

i think it is criminal to replace the mfd bridge pup on the special deluxe with a humbucker. those are great sounding bridge pups. imnsho of course.

I finally got the guitar, it´s great but i´m missing the mdf on the bridge, I also think it´s a shame what the previous owner did... I´m thinking to re-install it, althought I don´t know if it´s possible now...

Hi holdsworthdios,

Glad you got the guitar and are enjoying it. A little while ago a bought a ASAT Special semi-hollow that had a humbucker in the bridge position..... I reinstalled the factory MFD. However, mine has a pick guard to cover up the routing that was done when the humbucker was installed. If you put the MFD back in you will have quite a bit of space where your guitar has been routed.

Enjoy the guitar,

Scott

not much you can do. it's bad enough that the pickup ring is messing up the aesthetics, you'll have the routing visible. i hope you paid very little for a butchered guitar.
