Thursday 12/22

Post by Dave_P »

Late again! I jinxed myself the other day by saying I was done with work. Got a call from a sales person that needed an estimate for an event next November by the end of the day today
Things like that bug me a bit, but I am a one man department so that's how it goes.

Lunch today was an A-1 Peppercorn burger at Red Robin. My wife and I got a gift card in the mail from one of my relatives. Very tasty but definitely not healthy.

G&L: I saw some good predictions/suggestions in there yesterday, personally I would like to see some of Leo's last creations come to life, like the baritone and the G-100. I also like the idea of a few more custom options with special orders. Is the black hardware available again? I remember Craig posting a picture of it.
Anywho, today's topic is the holiday's effect on playing time. I'm curious to know if other people have this problem.
Lately every time I pick up my guitar and start to play a little birdie (*cough*my wife *coughcough*) tells me all the things I should be doing instead. Don't get me wrong it doesn't only happen during the holidays but does occur more often. I end up playing late at night in my music room...when I should be sleeping

Non-G&L: Looks like most of you have your shopping done, if you do it anyway. I'm still not quite finished but should be by this evening. We also decided to have a small shin-dig at my house tomorrow, you're all welcome to stop by if you'd like. I have a couple friends that are home for the holidays so it's good way to ensure I see them all. But it is a lot of work especially since it's kinda last minute. Anyone else hosting for the holidays? What are some of your favorite dishes?
I'll be making a spinach dip and some chilli for tomorrow's gathering, see you there

I wanna be first, so I gotta keep it short!!!!!

Bring back black crinkle!!!

Hosting, I am having my wife's family over for Xmas eve, and a good friend of mine is going to Mexico for the winter, so we are having a little send off tomorrow night. I am making spinach dip, too. The recipe on the back fo the Knor's vege soup box!

For the send off I am making a killer dinner, for xmas eve the usual ham and what not.

Playing time: this is a little bit of a sore subject with me. And I love my wife. But, she has little spells, that can last months at a time where I swear she is somehow jealous of my guitar or some darn thing. Every time I pick it up, "JEREMY!!"

I mean I watch no TV, almost never go out without her. It really annoys me. Oh yea, I have not, since my daughter has been born, practiced a ton. But is an hour or two too much to ask? Even when she is watching TV and I sneak in, it's "PAPA can you........"? argh.

But to answer your question, I plan on playing a lot the next couple of weeks...

Dave, isn't it amazing how these rush proposals can cut in to your vacation. Fortunately this doesn't happen to me since I fully retired last year. Lunch today was a ham sandwich with chips. Easy to fix and it worked after a morning of running errands for Ginny.

I would like to have different options from G&L available. They are doing a good job in that area. A few of us were clamoring for stainless steel frets a couple of years ago. They did it. They have a very good choice of colors. I would like to see a DF available on the ASAT Classic. Maybe it is but I never see any available. I think that a compound radius would be another nice choice but that is probably unnecessary with the 12 in radius already. I still think the micro tilt is a big plus. But I am happy as things are.

I am not playing as much in the last couple of weeks as I like but the holidays do have an impact. We always have brunches during holidays but this year we are having a traditional turkey dinner, one of my favorites. This is a bad time of the year for weight control but it happens every year so why change it?

Yesterday Jos posted pictures of his kitties and I thought that was perfect for mid week. As Ed always says- Its Thursday, what the heck!! So here goes. My job during retirement is to take care of these guys, Sam and MAgic

We're not hosting anything this year - in fact we're inter-state at my girlfriends home state of Queensland. It's my first time in this part of the country and it's really nice. Consequently I will be getting absolutely no practice in in the next week. I have a gig on NYE and a rehearsal the day before that, should be fine. Sometimes a little break is helpful. I don't half miss my G&Ls though!

Hi Dave,

As far as playing time is concerned, since everybody has the flu in the house, currently it is the quiet we all appreciate. But that will change soon I hope because there are a couple that need to be played for lack of attention. My whole 'guitar of the week' schedule has been disrupted! :(

Although the shopping is done, it still remains the question whether my wife and I are 'fit' enough to join a gathering. Whether that concerns physical or mental fitness I leave as an exercise to the reader ;)

Have fun Dave!

Nice Louis! It could rain cats and dogs over at your place if you don't watch out!

thank you. half the family. almost half. they are enjoying the heater nearby. you don't see the maincoon or the chow chow around. they prefer cooler temps.

Adorable.

I needed that (my car died today of all days. Guess I'm lucky just to have one. But try getting repairs done on the eve of Xmas.... This is the last time I wait to do my shopping. Again.) - ed

Forgive me. What was the question?

Jeremy, it sounds like you and I are in the same boat, making the same Knor's dip, good stuff
