Lunch: Had a late breakfast, got up and made some Belgium waffles with real maple syrup and a glass of milk. I don't know about you but I gotta have the real syrup. Yes it's way more expensive but I don't use it that often, it tastes better and has a lot of minerals and such that the maple flavored corn syrup lacks, so that's how I justify it. How about you, real or fake?

Non-G&L: This time of year is great for me. I'm done with work until after the new year (I'm on salary so that's a good thing) and I get to spend a lot of time home with my family. This is in stark contrast to my busy season which runs from around April until mid November when I'm hardly home. This morning my daughter even slept in until 8am :o between that and the waffles it's definitely going to be a good day, just some errands to run to finish off the Christmas shopping. I know it's a very busy time of year for a lot of people and I feel very lucky to be in my situation, I hope you all get some time to enjoy with your families as well.
sub-topic: stayed up late to get caught up on "The Walking Dead" last night. What a great series, I know there are some other fans out there. What do you think of season 2 so far? Any predictions for Feb when the season picks up again?

G&L: Speaking of predictions...any predictions on new G&L models coming out? I wonder, if you asked nicely, if the factory would do an SC-1 currently. It's just one less pickup route and no switch. Heck they could leave the switch and do an esquire type thing with the wiring. What ever happened to GbL guitar version 2? Anyone play the new M series basses?

i love real maple syrup but mostly use the sugar free stuff. i make oatmeal/protein pancakes or waffles and it is a guilt free meal you can have while dieting. i don't keeo the real stuff at home, i will use if i have it.

lunch today was a salad, boring yes, but Xmas eating is coming fast and furious.

I haven't watched walking dead, but have been hooked to Dexter and Boardwalk Empire. Dexter is not as good as it was but then again, I'm not sure how they could keep shocking people. Pretty bad when serial killing becomes mainstream.

I hope that G&L branches out according to their plans. The ascari etc would be interesting in a USA model. Will be very interested to see how they move that style of guitar forward.

Like you said, perhaps more 1 off style customization would be good too as long as the factory keeps its quality up.

Hey Dave,

Just in the middle of making todays lunch of strip loin and caesar salad....

Syrup
Real for our family all the way. Best friends of my inlaws have a sugar bush and we are always well stocked up at our house. The funny part is my little girls (5&3) can't stand the stuff! They eat their pancakes plain

Walking Dead
My wife and i are huge fans! She is terrified of zombies and spends most of the show peaking out from under the blanket. They are really making Shane out to be a jackass - something big coming up for his character for sure. It sucks that the season is in two halves... is it feb yet?

G&L

I love the idea of a SC-1 and nominate it for the GbL v2. Something simple in a unique finish and i would be in for sure! I order my sc-2 with ash and it sounds killer....

v2
SC-1 swamp ash, locking tuners, GOT neck and some cool finish - maybe the frost topcoat?

Hi Dave,

Definitely going for the real thing. And not just maple syrup. We read the labels while shopping and try to avoid (high-fructose) corn syrup as much as possible. And get as much organic food on top of that. Just makes you realize how much food has degraded in taste and that you're in a lucky position to be able to afford these more expensive food items. It is a weird thing that economics may force you to eat foods that may only cause more problems in the long run :(

Besides having the bug,it is nice to spent time with the wife and the kittens. I can still do some work from home using screen share technology, chat, and VPN. Amazing world we live in!

Lets try to make some predictions:
  1. An American carved top ASAT Special Deluxe and ASAT Deluxe. But these might be shoo ins given that Tribute versions already exist.
  2. The baritone I have been nominating for GbL v2. But that might not be needed. Given the campaign for the Ascari and Fiorano where they used old drawings as a 'gimmick', finally bringing Leo's last completed instrument into production might be a great thing. But I'm willing to wait for it to become a 35th Anniversary Limited Edition ;)
  3. The reintroduction of an F-100 version with active electronics. Now Paul Gagon has deigned a new preamp for the M-series basses, he might as well continue such that G&L can bring back some 'E' versions of models. Since the F-100 has humbucker MFD's, I mark that as the first candidate.
Enjoy your time off Dave!

Dave, no lunch yet but just returned from the final leg of Christmas shopping. So i voted in the poll and done was my choice. BTW, Ginnys gift ( jewelry ) is packed in a new guitar case and will be under the tree. The grand daughters will love it and Ginny will think I am trying to slip another guitar in the house. Boy, this is fun.

When the grand daughters were here last weekend we had waffles with store syrup and it was a hit. I haven't had real maple syrup for several years but I seldom eat syrup and it doesn't bode well with higher blood sugar. Cooking and spending time together is precious.

G&L has introduced some interesting products recently. I look at the carved top ASAT Tribute recently and it was very nice. This particular one was a bit heavy but certainly a looker. I also checked out an Ascari, nice build and workmanship. I think that it is important to target some of the younger crowd with new products. My guess is that it would be better to concentrate on the guitar market rather than trying to get into amps. There are so many Amps available. A PRS rep was at the local GC recently pushing their new $1000 Amp.

As for the M series bass, I just purchased an L. I have had Fender American Deluxes with both 9 and 18 v preamps and I did not see much differences. I play straight bass and am not a slapper so it may not be anything I need. I get what I like from the L-2500 just by flipping toggle switches. Have a great day everyone.-- Darwin

Gotta be real. Costs more but so much better.

I have not seen "The Walking Dead" but reviews are pretty good, may check it out during the Christmas vacation which started today! Like you, I am off until January 2. yee haa

No predictions but these could be cool: SC-1, a baritone ASAT, an Intercepter or the elusive G-200. Maybe the boys at G&L will surprise us all. :D

We celebrate Hanukkah, which started yesterday, so I check "Done" because I'd better be.

I still call my 7 year old dog "Puppy Girl." We got her when she was about 8 weeks old, so in my mind she is still the puppy she was.

Maple syrup. Only the real stuff for me! I try to limit artificial ingredients and buy as nearly local as I can. Not really fanatical, but like Jos said, you can get really great stuff that way. Most of the time it's more money, but sometimes the opposite is true.

I still want a 12 string semi hollow G&L! I think the carved top and short scale stuff looks like a nice expansion of the line.

I am with Darwin, the amp market is really crowded, and I don't see a way to really offer a unique product. So I'd stick with guitars!

Shopping, I don't do much for the holidays. They are a big deal to my wife, so I just try to get something to buy a little good will in that department. So done!

cheers, jeremy

Lunch: I love the real syrup. But honestly don't buy it all that often. The kid doesn't care what she drowns her pancakes in. And I don't eat pancakes or waffles all that often. When I do eat pancakes I prefer honey on mine. Yeah, the rest of the family thinks its wierd.

Non-G&L
: When today is over I'll be done with work until Jan 3. Tomorrow my plan is to sleep in a bit then take the girl out to finish up a few little things for Christmas shopping. I never saw The Walking Dead but AMC has been putting out some fine shows lately. I love the Breaking Bad series. Can't wait for that one to start back up, but its gonna be a long wait.

Predictions: No crystal ball here. I'd think a safe bet would be the carved top Deluxe.

Doubt I'll be around these parts much for the next week or 2 (not like I've been around much lately anyway due to work schedule) so have a Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah, and Happy New Year all.

Syrups: We have both in the house. The real stuff we get from neighbors whose cat we take care of when they visit family in New England. It's how they thank us from time to time. When that goes, we buy store brand crap and look forward to taking care of the cat again.

The Walking Dead: I have no idea what you are talking about (though I'm happy your enjoying it!).

Predictions: SC-3, based on the "Mustang" (i.e., SC-2) body shape. We'll have the choice of loading it with three single coils (MFD or vintage alnico), twin humbuckers or twin P-90's. But don't bet the house on it.

Real syrup for me, when I have syrup. I go out of my way to avoid high fructose corn syrup, so if the only choice is the fake stuff I eat something else. I've also become partial to my kids' favorite waffle topping, Nutella. It didn't seem right at first, but it is really tasty.

I haven't watched Walking Dead yet, but I did notice it on Netflix and intend to start catching up.

I would love to see a reissue of the G-200, especially if it was made true to the original specs. A deluxe take on the SC-1 would be great for a GbL v2. With so many options being offered on stock G&Ls these days, it would really need some unique features to set it apart - what better than a maple body, and choice of a maple or ebony fretboard? I'm not thinking of a figured maple top, but rather a solid maple body like the originals. Not sure about the finish...original colors would be nice, but what about metallic flake?

Neither, no pure bred cats here. Hard to believe they are from the same litter. Mom is a calico, dad a siamese. And apparently both these outcomes are genetically possible when sperm meets ovum ...

My wife had a calico/Siamese mix when we met. She was the most beautiful cat I've ever seen. All of the subtle blending that some calicos get in their coats, but entirely in shades of gray. She made it to the ripe old age if 18, and reverted to being playful like a kitten in the final 2-3 years.

technically there can be more than one father. dlh is just domestic long hair. not pure bread.
