G&L stock pots vs. RS Guitar Works?
Anybody here ever use RS Guitar Works pots...specifically their SuperPots? They claim they are way better than stock pots. Kinda seems like they might be trying to sell snake oil, and they sure aren't cheap! Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with them and know if they are all they are cooked up to be or not. Are they better than the stock pots G&L uses?

i like bourns pots even better than the rs. cheaper too. i use linear for volume anyway, rs won't work for me. tolerance is not a big deal. i buy 10 bourns for the price of one rs. some of them will be spot on.

Yeah, I think they are. No noticeable difference, actually, no difference at all. Just get one that works for a buck. lol.Muleya wrote:Kinda seems like they might be trying to sell snake oil, and they sure aren't cheap!

I think the RS kits have worked very, very well in the Gibson Les Pauls I have installed them in...truly a major improvement in the tone control function and in overall sound compared to the stock 300K factory pots and ceramic disc caps. Yes, worth the money.
That said, I probably wouldn't replace the pots in any of my G&Ls unless something was bad.

but you could get equivalent pots and caps for much less. the stock ones can certainly be improved upon.Boogie Bill wrote:I think the RS kits have worked very, very well in the Gibson Les Pauls I have installed them in...truly a major improvement in the tone control function and in overall sound compared to the stock 300K factory pots and ceramic disc caps. In my opinion caps and pots do not have any sound. They can change sound by their values, regardles of what they made of.
The only thing these parts have to do, is to work without extra noise as long as possible and if they do not function any more, it's time to change them, never before that.
