This is absolutely awesome. Bound body and you don't see many bound G&L necks. I love Baby Blue, reminds of my 78 Caddy. Last week I bought a new L-2500 but was drooling over a Baby Blue JB 2 with a GOT neck. It was a hard decision but I didn't want a JB. Ypu have one of the nicest Specials I have ever seen.-- Darwin

How does the Dual Fulcrum bridge affect the tone? I'd love to know if there's a big difference between the various bridge options. I love the colour and the whole look of the guitar. It took me a second to get past the lack of a pickguard but wow, that is a beaut!

Hi CGT - I don't feel the DF affects the tone much, really. I do think the Maple/Mahogany combo makes it more "gutsy" and she has great sustain and very even response across all the strings and the length of the fretboard. Finally I got a blue guitar that is the same color as the pics the seller sent me! ;)

I've been on the hunt for an ASAT w/DF for years. I had an '83 SC-2, but the ergonomics of the controls don't work very well for live music and the SC-2 is very, very bright. I'm much happier with the control layout of these Special Deluxe ASAT's.

When this one came up I got in touch w/the seller immediately, but was a bit discouraged by the weight: he said it weighed 9.3lbs on his fish scales. But when would I ever see another available? So I took the plunge. Turns out his scale must be a bit off and she's a good 1/2lb lighter at 8.75lbs. Still on the heavy side, but not crazy heavy.

That wide expanse of blue with no pick guard is pretty stunning, I think. You know, the SD's typically don't have pick guards. I have another I'll post - interesting natural Maple cap - that also has no pg.

All the best,
Murali

Wonderful guitar! Not necessarily something I woukl fall for, but that is what personal taste is all about ;) I love the contrast of the binding which really adds to the classy looks.

Congrats!

Odd, 'cause I found it on The Gear Page Emporium. Anyway, I'm kinda glad you feel that way Louis! :D

Some people list items on several platforms all at once. I have seen them on Craigslist, ebay, The Gear Page and some other musical instrument classified ad page. There is currently a guitar listed here that is also on ebay. Sometimes people try it one place then add more listings or move it around.

Thanks man. Yeah, I check EVERYWHERE when I'm trying to track something down. Even a simple google search can turn up stuff. I also check gbase and premier guitars.

Another member here owned that instrument recently - if I recall correctly he got it at a bargain price on ebay. It was on ebay just about the entire year - that colour isn't for everybody! I reckon it looks great.

so crazy. this was originally my guitar! I had it made in 2006, and not only did they send me the wrong neck profile, but the truss rod was cranked to hell and there were other neck problems, like strings catching under the frets.

since it was a new instrument, they were nice enough to just make me another identical guitar. that model has quite the odyssey, and I'm going to write a post about it soon.

it looks like when g&l took it back, they repaired the neck and resold it, because it has the same ebony board and graphite nut that I ordered. crazy to see my little guy had such a journey after g&l took it back!
