Signature Asat with BC0038 serial number !
Hi, a friend of mine just bought trough ebay a sig Asat but on the neckplate is BC0038. It is a natural body with a rosewood fretboard. The neck is stamped aug 2 1990 and the body july 26 1988. So everything looks original, just the neckplate. I have also seen that this BC0038 serial number is already registered at the broadcaster registry. An explanation anybody ? Thanks. Stefan

The Broadcaster was registered when it was seen on eBay in 03/09/2007. It must have been parted out and the neckplatebossie wrote:Hi, a friend of mine just bought trough ebay a sig Asat but on the neckplate is BC0038. It is a natural body with a rosewood fretboard. ended up on your friend's ASAT Signature. Which means, the original serial number of this guitar has been lost, unless your
friend has the original neckplate. Does this ASAT Signature have the Leo Fender signature decal on the upper bout of the
body?
Can you post some pictures (front and back) of this guitar? No telling whether the neck and body were used together
when built by the factory.
Hope this helps.

Hi Craig, thanks for your answer. My frined just bought it two weeks ago and the guy he bought it from sais he bought the guitar more than five years ago. The body has indeed the leo fender decal on it, everything looks ok, just impossible to understand where that neckplate comes from. I have pics but will try to find out how to post them.

Interesting, why did your friend decide to sell it?bossie wrote:It is listed again on ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/G-L-ASAT-Specia ... 4cfc569c6f
BTW, I consider this a parts guitar. It should have a white metal pickguard and chrome hardware
to be a stock ASAT Signature of 1988-1990 vintage.
