Nice looking S. CAR is a great color. I would estimate it to be a 2009 build.-- Darwin

That's a very strange, but beautiful, example for a couple of reasons. First, I haven't heard of a Classic S in CAR, and I've not seen one with white neck/middle pickups. It could be a special ordered guitar. I'd like to see a close up of the neck pickup if you have one.

It is likely a standard production version which started shipping in 2008,
with standard options available. The serial number of this one would indicate
it is a 2008 built guitar.

The Certificate of Authenticity should help id which version it is. If the
COA is a Custom Creations Special Build, then it is likely one of the one-off
versions. If it's the standard G&L Certificate, it's a standard production version.

Hope this helps.

It's sounds great and plays like a dream.
It's in the registry. Soon I will post some pics.

This is what I know about my G&L:

Asat Classic "S"
Candy Apple Red Metallic
Solid body
Maple neck 12inch radius (c neck)
Year unknown?
Belly cut
Forearm contour
Locking tuners
push/pull volume

Very nice indeed!

As I mentioned in my previous post, it is likely a 2008 build and is the standard production
version of the ASAT Classic 'S' model.

Oh, I missed the white neck pickup. Hmm, this looks like the Custom Creations ASAT Classic III,
but in CAR finish.
Edit: on further review, the middle pickup does look like an S-500 pickup and not a ACIII middle pickup.

I'll have to check with my contacts at factory to find out about this. :searching:

Stay tuned.

I asked Steve Grom, Director of Manufacturing, about what options are available on the standard
production version of the ASAT Classic "S" model.

Here is his reply:
The Classic "S" can be ordered with all the options found on the other G&L models in terms
of color, body wood, fingerboard, neck finish, pickguard material and the color of the plastic parts.

We are working to update the website with the details of this model

Thanks

Steve Grom

Hi Craig, thanks for investigating.

Did you notice that there is a flaw on the back of the headstock.
It's no problem for me ;)

Yes, that's a very nice "S".
I have got one from the same period, s/n 53017:

It's also a solidbody with the belly- and armcontour.

What you mean by the flaw on the back of the headstock? The little dot is the 'birthmark', they all have that. ;)

Like Ivo said, it's not a flaw. See what is the little dot on the back of g&l headstocks? in the G&L Knowledgebase.

Hope this helps.

Funny, the guys in the guitarstore put a sticker on it. I think they didn't know either.

That's also a really nice guitar, great colour. Is it a ash or alder body?
I guess it's Alder, that's what they use with these finishes.
Our guitars might come from the same batch, but they differ a little bit beside the color:
Rosewood fingerboard
Satin finished birdseye maple neck
Spergel tuners (not locking)

And now enjoy your ASAT Classic Session player!

I've had my ASAT Classic S for a few weeks now and love it. Some great looking guitars here guys. I hope you are enjoying yours as much as I am mine. Here's mine in Butterscotch Blonde.

Love the ASAT body with the belly and arm cut. Wish my Wil Ray were so equipped!
