On my new S500 it has a push pull knob instead of the toggle switch.
2 things I noticed that are different than my 199x's S500.
1. ) the knob is extremely loose to turn. Just look at it funny and the volume will change.
2. ) the knob is about 1/8th to 1/16th closer to the strings. Which means I bump into it more, which means volume changes.
Does the push-pull knob require more space and that is why it is closer to the strings?
The 30th S500 is on the other end of the spectrum with stiff action. You will need more than your pinky to change the settings.
No matter how much I bump into the control, it ain't moving.
I see there are 3 options.
1.) Get a push pull knob that is stiffer. (not sure that is possible)
2.) move the knobs farther away from the string.
3.) go back to the 199x's way of doing things.
Who here has the Push-pull knob? Please comment.

i actually use as push push knob on all my guitars. much prefer it to the push pull. i simply put it to the tone pot instead of the volume pot. there are different torque levels available as well. i like my volume to be very loose, so i can "violin" easily. i put high torque for the tone knob. there is really no need for extra room for the push push, or push pull pots.

My S-500 has a push pull control with a loose action. Position-wise it's about where I like it, but I'd like it to have more resistance if that was an option. I find that it gets in the way when it's up, so a push-push knob as Louis suggested might be just the ticket for me.

a push push still has an up position for visual verification, the difference is a much easier switching, just a tap n the top. so putting it as a tone pot doesn't slow down the switching speed.Philby wrote:My S-500 has a push pull control with a loose action.
