11.11.11 - The Lunch Report

Post by Ledergeist »

GLDP Lunch Report. Friday November 11, 2011

Not the first or last time you'll see this one today, but here it is anyway... Happy Nigel Tufnel Day everyone!

Nigel has a nice collection for sure. Mine is much smaller, but I manage to play them all pretty regular. I'm adding to it today, picking up a used Epiphone Wilshire re-issue found online.
Normally I tend to stay away from re-issues and the like, but after letting TWO original Wilshires slip thru my paws back in the day, this was a dirt-cheap alternative. Besides that, the kids are showing some interest in music now, and they will be able to use it whenever they want. I'm not too sure about handing the Invader to my 8 yr. old! Part of the reason he's taking drum lessons IS so he can bash something...

Holidays are coming up quick. This year has just flown by. Question : Do you brave the Black Friday crowds??
I tend to pick up things over the whole year and have a stash to go thru when it's time to wrap gifts. Works for me.

G&L Question -
Is there a type of pedal you would like to see BBE/G&L add to their line??

It's been fun serving as your lunch reporter this week. Wish my schedule could have lined up better with your responses, but we made it work. Pretty sure we will have a first-timer next week, so check back later for the announcement...

Enjoy your weekends, and keep the shiny side up....

I like how Nigel describes the sustain on his guitars. He is an entertainer. I wonder if he has hearing like I do?

I actually like reissues and think that they are more refined than the originals, especially if they can be had at a good price.

Thanks for doing LR duty this week Brian. Very entertaining! :happy0065: :happy0065: - Darwin

Great week!

Holiday shopping: Never have done black Friday but have done the Dec 23/24 a few times. Usually plan gifts better and have them in motion and hopefully completed before they are due. When things become an obligation it gets tough thinking of what to get for people. Chances are they will not like it and you are just throwing away money. We have agreed to no gifts but one person breaks the rule and makes everyone else feel awkward. Gifts are really for kids and close loved ones not everyone you are related to. No no no.

Pedals? Anything as long as it is good, and better if at a reasonable price.

Never get tired of that clip - or that movie.

Great week Brian. Thanks much.

Gift shopping: You will never catch me out with the Black Friday lunatics. I usually develop gift ideas over a period of months, then wait too long to execute them properly.

Pedal question: I'd love to see BBE/G&L unvail something called the "Stomp Box Pro" that I can plug into and instantly sound like I have some talent. I'd pay a lot for something like that.

Have a great weekend! - ed

PS: Did you skip lunch today? ;+)

Hi Brian. Great week. I'm away from home so only have access through my phone. Still enjoyed it though.

Re. pedals, I'd like to see an amp sim pedal that emulates what the Whipper Snapper would have sounded like.

There are so many universal rock'n'roll truths in Spinal Tap that I can't see it ever going out of fashion.
